I watch tldr news on nebula. I am aware that they get income from advertising on youtube so they aren't fully independent. However, I find that they provide good quality news nonetheless. And they do get some revenue from nebula so I expect that they are not fully dependent on youtube

I'd say everything the German ร–RR (public service broadcasting) has to offer. Often they have a version in English. Don't know if you can access the online content from outside of Germany though.

For the french of course ARTE but they probably already know about that :-)

Very Finland centric, but the national broadcasting company of Finland is pretty good and has news in English: https://yle.fi/news

Channel 4 news here in the UK is also top quality.

The 2 that I know of are the BBC and Kyiv Independent.

For news happening on the top levels of the EU:

  • Euractiv - independent media network with correspondents/branches in nearly all european countries
  • EU Observer - independent
  • politico.eu - co-owned by Politico US and Axel Springer, therefore I'd be a bit wary of them even though their articles usually are ok

In Denmark you have https://www.zetland.dk/ for written news that they also record with voice in their own studio with very high quality. They focus on quality over quantity.
