My trick is to open the comments in a new tab. Then when I hit back it closes the comments tab and takes me back to where I left off.

Interestingly if you then scroll down and hit the page back or page forward buttons, it takes you back or forward from the page you were on.
So you can go back, and then you go forward, and then you go back again, and you're where you were.
