At least Lemmy doesn’t have a bunch of obnoxious Ohio State and South Carolina fans (yet) to come into Clemson game threads when we’re losing 😅

(We also don’t have any obnoxious Clemson fans yet, thankfully.)

I've seen a good couple of cocks hangin round these parts. I'm a little surprised they're not being rambunctious in here

Ah yes, now it feels right. Glad it was tOSU before UofSC.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Welcome to the 2022 hangover, Clemson. TCU is there to your left, and Florida to your right.

I cannot possibly understand the reasoning for that being a deadball foul.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Here’s how the logic makes sense to me:

A late hit is a hit after the play is dead. If he were to have slid, stood up, walked towards the sideline, and then been tackled out of no where, that still would’ve been a late hit and I don’t think anyone would say Clemson should get a 1st down for something that happened so long after the play.

So since there is a “too long”, you have to have something thay designates when is too long. And for this, it’s once the play is dead, that’s the description of the penalty.

And for this play, it was dead as soon as he began his slide, by rule. And as soon as the play was dead, it became Duke ball.

And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Committing a penalty after a play is over shouldnt change how that past play worked. Otherwise, it’s like the rule NFL used to have where excessive celebration after a TD could take away the score

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

I understand this, and I suppose it does make sense. But it did create a situation here where a team was essentially not penalized for targeting.

Football and legalistic ticky-tack rules... name a more classic combination.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Oh well, at least people can’t say we benefitted off of it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Just thinking about the blocked fg earlier and the muffed punt just then -- are special teams just a little off in week one across the board? I always seem to notice things like that at the start of each season and then they become much more rare

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah, I mean think about it. These boys have done a grand total of zero full speed punts and kick returns, and those plays are notoriously physical. Add some rain tonight and it's not too surprising if you ask me.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Is losing to an unranked Duke enough to drop us out of the AP? I hope so.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Don't worry, Dabo. Jesus just wanted Duke to win tonight and doesn't love you anymore.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

Well, if it's any consolation, I hate the combination of the pointy serif D logo and the Gothic "D u k e". It's ass and screws up a simple classic aesthetic that should be very hard to screw up. Either go full baseball or no baseball.

Does Duke rush the field against us? I sure hope so.

At this point it’s just funny. I prefer losing this way because I don’t have to say “what if?” I just know that we were bad.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Clemson losing in solidarity with TCU.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Assuming this holds up, the Frogs thank you for taking half of the attention for the upcoming media cycle. TCU is now stuck hoping that Coach Prime was an evil genius all along.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I know you're a tiger so this might sound like a downgrade but we've been using our poll numbers for the game threads fwiw.

I don't know how that kfc commercial made it past focus groups. I want to punch everyone in that commercial with considerable force. Any press is good press I guess?

Clemson is 2/7 on fgs their last 2 games. 2/8 including the fake

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Clemson looks really rough. Big oof.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think most Clemson fans are used to it at this point. Another overrated preseason ranking for us. But I have hope that Riley will at least get our offense on the right path.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (2 children)

As someone who hasn't been following closely ... what the hell happened to Clemson? Specifically the offense? They went from championship caliber to wet noodle.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago

Clemson was so consistent for so long because, unlike most successful teams, they kept their staff together. But then one OC left, then the other, the DC all within a couple years and they started going down. Then DJ played like ass (which could’ve been coaching but still) and they bottomed out. They replaced a lot of coaches and are hoping to come back now.

At least I think that’s what happened.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

We kept promoting internally despite continued failure on the field. We had Tony Elliott and then Brandon Streeter as our Offensive Coordinators. We also haven’t recruited well for OL due to hanging on to our OL coach. When Dabo fired Streeter and hired Riley (and our OL coach retired) the entire Clemson fan base rejoiced. Even if we take the L here we at least have some hope which we didn’t have under Elliott or Streeter.

QUIT WITH THE SHITTY ON FIELD INTERVIEWS

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Fun fact: Clemson is 0-1 for the first time since September 4, 2021, when they lost to #1 UGA 10-3.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Another Clemson Choke

Am I doing it right?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

This will probably be the happiest that Steve Spurrier could ever be about a football game not involving a Florida win.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Duke was 9-4 last year, but still, I was not expecting this

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

I, also, was not expecting this!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

That fumble inside the 1 yard line really broke Clemson's spirit, huh?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Clemson clearly did something to anger the football gods

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Well I'm no cock, but honestly I still haven't forgiven clemson for the 04 peach bowl. So obligatory

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

“You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

Good to know that we are still in our villain stage, at least for now.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That game traumatized a young g0d0fm15ch13f, we were still considered powerhouses at that time and I view it as the beginning of our downfall. Hope you manage to have fun in the remainder of your season (but I wouldn't mind if you keep losing)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

I’ll have fun, I’m still glad we hired an outside OC. Plus, these games make us shed some Walmart fans which is always good. Maybe one of these losses will light a match under our team like the 2016 Pitt loss.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

There's no way, clemson you ok there bud?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Well, regardless if we can come back or not (probably not) we deserve this L.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Dabo is so pear shaped it hurts

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Love the duke helmets honestly

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Cheers to the orange team!
