I spend half of my time in the office, and up until recently we had a very lax policy on what you could do with our company provided PCs. It was perfectly fine to browse personal social media, or shop etc. There were some content filters for more racy websites, but I wouldn't think to browse them with my work PC.

I recently got a security clearance to work on some government contracts, and we got a new extremely overzealous infosec person within a few months of each other. Now my work PC basically cannot navigate to nearly any website outside of internal sites, and a few that slip through the cracks.

No youtube, or spotify in the background for music. No amazon for shopping. Can't even use Google docs for some reason, which is a huge PITA for work related tasks. Any attempt to circumvent these restrictions will get a instant stern email from IT.

Anyway I recently got a new PC with USB C output, and I bought a cheap dongle to plug in all my peripherals, and monitor for one cable docking of my company laptop. On a lark I plugged in my fold 4 to charge, and DEX auto launched.

I was aware of Dex, and even had played with it years ago, but it has now become the answer to my prayers.

Suddenly I have a completely functional desktop completely free of nagging from the IT dept. I can operate my work mostly 100% from DEX, and anyone walking by will just assume I am using Windows. Not to mention the awesome ability to correspond with all of my numerous messaging apps running natively on my phone.

For the past few weeks my laptop stays in the bag 90% of the time, and I am just using DEX as my main work computer through the various apps, and web portals. It functions so amazingly well, I cannot believe that there is no marketing behind this. It feels like Samsung has basically solved the PC interface off of a phone, and no one even knows about it.

Absolute kudos to Samsung for how polished they have made this.
