I (33F) just moved into a new building in NYC with a doorman. I’ve never lived in a building with a doorman before and I’m not quite sure what the etiquette is. I smile and say “hi” every time I leave and enter the building, but for whatever reason I feel a bit awkward. Am I being too friendly / fake? Whats the right way to act?

It might be worth mentioned that I’ve just recently moved back to NYC after living abroad for about 10 years.
