just to get some things clear firsthand, 9/11 was horrible. i will not ever in my life dispute that, as i understand that so many innocent people were murdered that day.

my question specifically, is why did the whole world tune into and mourn that tragedy that day? this isnt the first time America has ever been attacked, or terrorist attacks have happened. i see so many stories of people from asia, europe, and more recounting shock from when 9/11 was happening.

was it the scale of the damage that the terrorists caused? the fact that it was America of all places? i'm genuinely curious.
