mister OLODBOOKSGUY i was using your very helpful guide to sort the bad art from the good art, when something funny happened. I said a piece was bad art that enfeebled my canon until it produced stagnation. But my freind said it was a good map that hinted at structured and rhythmic forgotten values. We can't both be right, can we?

Hayao Miyazaki vs Junji Ito is my favorite meme too, but you don't see me going around generalizing it.
I think this does a disservice to Miyazaki. He's a snob and you can criticize the writing quite easily, but he at least appreciates the connection of animation to one's experience of life rather than as an abstract exercise in pleasant stimulation.
