Posting this for my friend who doesn't use Reddit.
I (30F) am currently pregnant with my third child. I have two beautiful daughters, and had the appointment to discover the sex of the third two days ago. Turns out it's gonna be a girl as well! Both me and my husband are over the moon. We didn't have any particular preference, so we're looking forward to welcome our third daughter into the world.
We've announced the news to our family and friends, and a lot have congratulated us and are sharing our joy. However, this joy has been disrupted by some comments. For example, some have told us "aww, not a boy, but congratulations anyway!". Or "I was sure it was going to be a boy, but a girl is amazing too!". Basically, some backhanded comments either implying that having a boy is "better" than having a girl, or implying that we wanted a boy rather than a girl. We've never told anyone our preference on the sex of the baby, because we don't have one!
So my question would be : how do I confront these types of comments? How do I politely tell them that this is not ok?
