before you write your comment: the title is for the funny, I can see the airflow tiles

because they are working in the salt water but everywhere else is full of air, the breathability is ping-ponging between 20% and 80%

They are dupes. They actively try to kill themselves without your intervention. Be glad they found a pocket of air.

Yeah, dupes can breathe from a 3x3 "+" shape, like the pumps. That is how vacuum held by single-bead liquid locks in unsuited areas gets broken.
