Dang did they catch heat for this at the time? I can imagine Obamamania was pretty powerful in their fan base at that time

Nah, Boondocks was a known critic of popular trends, kinda like South Park (but less farts, more social issues). As much as people were stoked on Obama, it was pretty obvious, at the time, that some celebrities were just jumping on his dinknballz because of the excitement he was generating. The Boondocks was a real one for giving them shit for it
