making sure even the police report can't possibly claim you "weren't seen" after some suburban tank snuffs you out

Do byciclists in the US have to be fully militarized now to survive traffic?

[–] [email protected] 36 points 2 years ago

It probably helps but you can still die.

I mean, most drivers struggle with stop signs. They also get aggressive and confused if called out for being unsafe around pedestrians/bicyclists.

Or use the sidewalk yeah

I wouldn't even trust this on my local roads. Cycling in my area is suicidal

I think all bikes should be allowed to mount a lance, and if you're walking out on the bike path and get spiked, that's on you. If you swing out without orienting yourself, that's on you.

People walking on a bike lane is mostly an infrastructure problem stemming from everybody but the car being relegated to the gutters.

Which is why I propose if you ride a bicycle any damage to a car caused while on a bicycle, feet not touching the ground, is legal.

Like rationally I know that it's a structural issue not a systemic issue. But I live in a city full of tourists, and there's just some primal part of me that gets activated when some drunk englishman steps down from the wide-ass sidewalk and steps onto the clearly marked bicycle lane.

Oh, much the same, don't get me wrong, but this is akin to divide and conquer, after the initial reaction you need to rise above

All bikes get a lance, all trolleys get a cowcatcher. train-shining

[–] [email protected] 30 points 2 years ago

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 years ago

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 years ago (1 children)

And yet some car in a hurry will still get behind him in the quarter mile stretch he actually has a bike lane and lay on their horn because they want to use the bike lane to get around all the cars stopped in traffic

This is like the Australian anti-magpie hats but instead of protecting against swooping father birds it's for warding off carbrains

I think the peak would be an automated sentry gun that tracked the nearest car and there's a big red button to fire on the handlebars

reminds me of this emoji a bit officer-down

having a rave at the camp spot once you arrive safely due to all the precautions

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)
