196 has been by far their largest comm since it arrived there, but blahaj was a thing before that. And tbh their 196 is considerably less bad than r/196 (not that that's saying much but still). My biggest issue is with Moss, and they need some TC69 thought big time, but I still wish them well and I hope we can play nice at some point in the future.

Also, this is the start week of college for most people which is probably a large portion of their userbase.

In credit to Ada, I made a post on one of my fedi accounts just complaining about chasers on blahaj and somehow (god knows how since nobody boosted it and she doesn't follow me and I've never interacted with her on fedi) she found the post like 12 hours later or so and replied asking me what their usernames were so she could ban them. I discussed it with her in DMs and we agreed that like one of them was just a dumb kid who was being overly personal, so they got a DM from Ada telling them off and a warning to be on their best behaviour but the other one was a real creep who like had a massive go at me and accused me of being chaserphobic for saying I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with a chaser and I think they're banned now.

I think Ada's doing her best but like letting THE chaser "ally" subreddit establish themselves on her instance was an awful decision.

But also that 196 meme looks like something a conservative would have posted like 2 years ago lmao.

Honestly my psychoanalysis of Ada is that she simply is a boomer. When r/196 first moved to c!196 on Blahaj she admitted she wasn't familiar with it. I doubt she would let them on there if she knew but now she's in up to her neck. Doesn't excuse her for not unmodding Moss and getting someone mature.

All in all that instance was devoid of content, had every actual discussion buried by a haha funny about girldick, worshipped NATO and had more chasers than trans people. If it wasn't for Hexbear it would still bleed users due to low quality. Good riddance.

Alright, this is another one of those things where I feel like I only know half the story and so instinctively take the side of whichever old imperialist-capitalist propaganda I haven't yet unlearned. My impression was that Taiwanese leftists overwhelmingly want to not be part of China, and this is partly because the only claim to Taiwan that China has comes from pre-revolutionary settler-colonialism. Which is to say, that Taiwan is a legitimate country, even when the ROC rule of the island is not legitimate, if that makes sense.

I had a Taiwanese friend once. Online. Seven years ago. We were never close and only ever chatted about conlangs. This makes me a certified expert on strait politics who is incapable of having wrong opinions. Worship me for I am correct in all things.
