This comment makes me curious about my ignorance on how the fediverse works. Suppose then that two users of the same instance such as lemmy.dbzero.com see a community as it is reflected in their instance, but the community as such is not accessible because the server is down, can the users of the same instance interact from their version of the community of another instance that is hosted on a down server?
Yes, that's exactly right, that's how we are still able to interact here. Posts and comments are shown to other users of the same instance like normal, the only difference being that the posts and comments can't be synced to the original community at social.fossware.space because it's down.
