Kurt Eisner, born on this day in 1867, was a German socialist revolutionary and radical journalist who was assassinated by a far-right nationalist while serving as head of the People's State of Bavaria.

Kurt Eisner, born to a Jewish family in Berlin, was a revolutionary German socialist, radical journalist, and theater critic. Before leading the People's State of Bavaria, he worked as a journalist in Marburg, Nuremberg, and Munich. In the early 1890s, Eisner served nine months in prison for writing an article that attacked Kaiser Wilhelm II.

In 1918, Eisner was convicted of treason for his role in inciting a strike of munitions workers. He spent nine months in Cell 70 of Stadelheim Prison, but was released during the General Amnesty in October of that year.

Following his release from prison, Eisner helped organize the revolution that overthrew the Bavarian monarchy, declaring Bavaria to be a free state and republic. Despite Eisner's socialist politics, he explicitly distanced the movement from the Bolsheviks and promised to uphold property rights.

On February 21st, 1919, while on his way to deliver his resignation to Parliament, Eisner was assassinated in Munich by a far-right German nationalist. Eisner's murder made him a martyr for left-wing causes, and a period of lawlessness in Bavaria followed his death.

On the night of April 6th-7th, 1919, communists, encouraged by the news of the communist revolution in Hungary, declared a Soviet Republic, with Ernst Toller as chief of state. The Bavarian Soviet Republic was crushed by the right-wing German Freikorps.

Some of the military leaders of the Freikorps, including Rudolf Hess and Franz Ritter von Epp, would go on to become powerful figures in the Nazi Party. Ironically, Adolf Hitler himself marched in the funeral procession for Eisner, a Jew, wearing a red armband as a display of sympathy.

"Truth is the greatest of all national possessions. A state, a people, a system which suppresses the truth or fears to publish it, deserves to collapse."

Intrusive thought: Everyone on hexbear knows each other irl except you, and this is just where they chat online. Every time you comment, they don't have the heart to tell you because it's too awkward now

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago

wish i could just uhhh you know, find more people to hang out with irl. Outside of work.

Recently added a DL manager to firefox for the first time in at least 15 years to manage a lot of large downloads. Good choice, but damn it's been a long time since I've needed that. Retvrnnnnnnnn

Im still playing pokerogue, i discovered you can rise you luck using shinies so i did a run with 1 shiny and a strong legendary, i picked spectrier since it had aura sphere from an egg move. Spectrier was so strong it solo most biomes i got to eternalus but i didnt get good mons to fight it so i lost. Still i think the extra luck helped since i got a bunch of good items.

I also used a bunch of egg vouches and 2 more shinies, im going to save candies to lower spectrier cost so in a new run i can bring more shinies

Modding Crow Country a little bit to add 21:9 resolutions and increase fov a bit. In the process, i turned off all the filters the game uses:

lol looks pretty funny. I can't get rid of that weird purple ring, though, which is my last goal to the mod :P

More computer errors should just give common solutions along with the error. A program needed a dependency but that dependency doesn't install automatically. Fair enough, but how was I supposed to know. I want a little clown to pop up at the corner of my screen and say "Hyuck hyuck!" and tell me where to click.

Fuck Philip Banks. Banks wants to empty the banks, fill our streets with banks, and run a bank-making operation out of his banks.

You ever had a meal from a vending machine and I don’t mean the cringe soy tech bro vending machines from Japan with meals in, I mean paying an inflated price for two bags of chips and a soda just so you don’t starve that night because nothing is open and it’s 3am at the library

I saw a woodpecker today and I mimicked its call back to it and felt kinda bad for teasing it, but then we heard another woodpecker call from somewhere else and the first one flew off to get that cloacussy.

It was rad.

the pixel tablet has been secured. lineageos went on pretty easy (once i fixed some adb issues on my laptop) and it's surprisingly well optimized for tablet use - i was half expecting it to be all jank. just waiting now for the trade-in box for the refurbished ipad, should show up by the end of the week.

only downside of using it for media consumption is i have to use a hand to keep it upright. might try to find one of them kickstand cases

Oh also no headphone jack >:( but I'm just getting the $10 apple DAC off Amazon since it's fairly well regarded and the voltage issues with android shouldn't be an issue with my IEMs

I have a deviated septum and terrible allergies and got a neti pot last week. Literally life changing. I have never slept through the night better and my partner says my snoring is entirely gone. Sincerely, I can not recommend it enough.

i'm sure you could make a sci-fi level durable infinite knowledge electronic book at this point.

i mean my book-tablet goes 2-3 weeks between charges. imagine if we took out all the extraneous gizmos, only used the most efficient filetypes with the cuting edge of storage and battery? upload a provincial library's worth of epubs

It's funny how porky loves to whine about all the "freedoms" lost under China, but good ol' All-American capitalism just recreates their own redpilled versions of said restrictions.

  • One huge example is how real estate investment basically recreated the Hukou system but redpilled. If you're born and raised in the boonies, you're fucked. Housing in cities is way too expensive, but they're the only places with the few remaining jobs in the US. If you're born in the boonies, you're fucked and the system will do everything in it's power to make sure you stay in bumfuck nowhere.

  • Credit scores and even just all the racism is just a social credit system but redpilled. Literally punishing people for being poor and undesirable. Jobs also ask you to have a "network" these days so if you don't have enough social capital to ask your rich friend to pretty much apply to jobs for you, you're fucked.

  • Even the loss of free speech. Go and publicly admit that you do not hate all Muslims, I dare you.

  • I am yet to see anyone who is tough on crime that won't shriek about 'muh freedumz' when discussing getting tough on white-collar crime

The more I watch Destiny the more I’m convinced he’s going to collapse on stream from a heart attack caused by his continuous abuse of Adderall. I know that frantic jaw clench anywhere. I used to get it when my dose of Vyvanse was too high, and I even had the same erratic speed when I spoke like he does.

@[email protected] in regards to the flight attendants striking Ianal but usually rank and file strikers only get fired which they'd otherwise be protected from in a "legal" strike though they maybe could face other punishment. Union leadership would be much more likely to face fines or imprisonment and the union as an organization would also likely be fined and could be held liable for the company's lost revenue. It all kinda depends on the court that declares the strike illegal though
