I'm looking for unique songs in pop, alternative rock, hip-hop, funk, et cetera that are melodic but easy on beginners.

Which ones do people always suggest?

Maybe Cannonball by the Breeders? Rotten Apple from Alice in Chains' Jar of Flies Not generally a big Aerosmith fan, but the bassline at the start of Sweet Emotion is fun and not too difficult.

Another One Bites the Dust by Queen, Good Times by Chic, Money by Pink Floyd, Feel Good Inc by The Gorillas... all that Top 40 stuff is usually recommended. I want something different.

How about ‘Blister in the Sun’ by The Violent Femmes, ‘hey man nice shot’ by filter. For more advanced stuff, my favorite baselines are Cake’s version of ‘I will survive’ (‘The distance’ is a pretty good one too) and ‘In the Meantime’ by Spacehog.

City escape from sonic adventure 2 is one of my go to. Great fun to play on bass.

Interesting question, as I just started with the bass. (Still strugling with scales without getting my fingers in a know) Any Jazz tips?
