U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday thrashed Republican rival Donald Trump's response to the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, asking, "Why does Trump always blame America?"

If there is any single issue that stifles actual discussion or debate in US politics, it is Whataboutism. There will always be some other issue to distract from what's at hand. BLM + "but all lives matter!" = whataboutism. Biden eliminates some student debt + "but Israel" = whataboutism. It is one of the best ways to keep the pot stirring without allowing anyone to taste the soup.
