Tbh Iβve never heard of that version so Iβll check it out. Admittedly, I like the high pitched wailing of the original, but art is subjective and there are very few wrong answers.

Nah you can have it, its a good version. The best thing about the g&r version is the bass, its the most well produced bass on like any recording ever. Other than that its bogged down with Axl and Slash just being massive cliches, parodies of their own success.

everyone's favorite blues & country song they probably are enjoying a 'cover' but idk if that term really applies when no-one knows or listens to the original

This PD48 cover of BTS' The Truth Untold is infinitely better than the original. The girls' performance is raw and powerful and it shines because of its rough edges and ambition. By comparison the original is an overproduced autotuned mess.
I know it's an idol elimination show and it's hammed up, but when Miyu's part hits at 1:49 it never fails to make me misty eyed.
I know I can (probably) get away with the BTS disrespect here since I don't think there are many fans on hexbear, but on the other hand I've outed myself as a lapsed kpop fan, so that's its own price to pay.

This is barely on topic but I can't stop thinking about this every couple of months for the past like, 10 years
They did some weird covers of various pop songs for Bioshock Infinite. They were basically songs going though whatever timewarp shit they had going on in that game, lyrics or recordings leaking out into the public, and then being covered by 1910's musicians. They did like Tainted Love, Fortunate Son, and a bunch of other relatively modern songs.
They also had this timewarp shit happening and sending you back to Rapture, the original underwater 
haven from the first game, but showing you what it was like before everything collapsed. Part of the premise of the first game was basically all these people got suckered into signing up for Libertarian Disneyland, thinking they'd become prosperous, while it was really about the biggest richest asshole dominating everyone else... ancapistan. He lured them to the bottom of the sea with promises of freedom and self-actualization only to kill them for trying to unionize their backbreaking shit jobs.
This is all to say I want a one-man folk blues guitar cover of Badfish by Sublime lmao

A few I adore are Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence, his vocals are unreal. A less known one is The Ghost of Tom Joad by Junip - the vibe seems to fit the song so much better. Also, First Aid Kit's cover of Running Up That Hill.
Respect by Aretha Franklin is an obvious one, completely turned the Otis Redding version on its head
For me it has to be the Cradle of Filth cover of "Hallowed be thy name".
The goth energy of the subject matter is just perfect for some filth. The developments in metal sound since Sabbath invented a ton of it are admittedly a factor, but sometimes a classic can be perfected long after it became one. No shade intended towards the Icons who created the original.

Most covers of Gary Moore songs. The guy was an amazing songwriter and musician, but Nightwish made Over the Hills and Far Away simply better with Tarja's singing and the use of keyboard.

Screaming Females have a cover of Taylor Swift's Shake It Off that just fucking kills. Strips out the pop production for raw, aggressive defiance.
