Fediverse is a portmanteau of "federation" and "universe".
Getting started on Fediverse;
Lemmy doesn't federate hashtags so they'll appear in the post on other fediverse services but they won't appear in hashtag feeds/searches.
EDIT: FYI, there's a cross-post button on lemmy. it's the button that looks like a copy button (A square overlaid and offset over another square).
As an additional question, is it possible for me to follow a Mastodon account on Lemmy so it appears as part of my subscribed feed?
In particular I want to follow Never Obsolete (@256)
Lemmy users do not have a mechanism for following users, I think. Only communities (which are also seen as groups, based on the software).
Wonder how difficult that'd be to add in?
