I hate to say it, but it really just shows how out of touch we are with the average person. Like it or not, opposing genocide makes you a radical to most of the electorate 
Is it because admitting that causes people to completely question their worldview? If you oppose genocide, you won’t be able to justify defending the American experiment any longer. So then what?
I could go through n iterations of this logic until I’m blue in the face but it’s no match for firmly entrenched ideology at the end of the day.
