If there's one survival horror franchise that any gamer is familiar with, no matter their generation, it has to be Resident Evil. The Resident Evil franchise has been around for decades and includes dozens of installments that shaped our gaming journey in the genre. With more than 20 years of history, Resident Evil is one of the most iconic horror franchises and definitely the most successful ever when it comes to the commercial side. Despite the appearance of multiple competitors over the years, Resident Evil remained the absolute champion, and developers started to give up one by one. So the real question is: how has Resident Evil managed to maintain this success for so long? And why are developers not trying to compete with it anymore?
