-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

spoilerThe Pentagon’s inspector general said its criminal investigators have opened more than 50 cases related to aid provided to Ukraine, including some involving contractors, but have yet to firm up any allegations.

The investigations, which are at different stages, are looking at issues including “procurement fraud, product substitution, theft, fraud or corruption, and diversion,” the inspector general, Robert Storch, said in a briefing Thursday. “We have not substantiated any such allegations, though that may well change in the future,” he said. Storch also cautioned there would likely be more investigations into abuse or diversions of US equipment “given the quantity and speed” of gear flowing into Ukraine.

The Pentagon is leading Washington’s efforts, along with the State Department and US Agency for International Development, to monitor the roughly $113 billion in aid and funds appropriated for Ukraine, not all of which has been spent, as part of the US-led “Atlantic Resolve” effort to dislodge Russia. A similar process was undertaken for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Auditors have so far uncovered “stresses and gaps” in providing assistance, he said. For example, audits uncovered incomplete manifests for shipments transfered to Ukraine through Poland.

“As a result, DoD personnel did not have required visibility and accountability of all types of equipment during the transfer process,” they said in a June assessment.

Despite those issues, Storch said the Pentagon so far “has responded well” to Ukraine’s military assistance needs “with the agility to carry out what’s essentially a train and supply mission” before much of the equipment gets to Ukraine.

Storch’s office has over 200 people engaged in Ukraine oversight, and aims to increase the number working inside the country from the current 28, which includes two at the US embassy in Kyiv.

Among other audits still in the works, the Pentagon is evaluating issue around 155-millimeter artillery shells, a key munition for Ukraine, to determine whether the US met its goals while balancing the needs for its own reserves, training and operations.

@feddit.nl

Are you a bit or a reddit lib? I'm old so if there are too many levels of meta humor I get lost like the grandpa in the movie Moonstruck.

[–] [email protected] 44 points 1 year ago

It’s a reference to “federation”. When I first heard about the platform a while back I thought it was a meta joke as well lol

So let me get this straight. Posting an article from Bloomberg (a liberal news source that's pro-Ukraine) about the Pentagon doing an investigation makes us "fascists" just because it goes against a narrative in your head and you don't like it? Sounds like you're projecting here. You're unhinged.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 year ago

It goes against a glowing narrative they like about a country with open fascists in power along with fascist military leaders praised for "defending the motherland" and fascist military divisions and with hundreds of monuments to fascists/Nazis and Nazi collaborators.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 1 year ago

"Vote for genocide because we're all cowards and won't fight our enemies and will instead beg an evil old man to save us as we cower in fear taking no action whatsoever to protect ourselves and in exchange we'll let that evil old man murder children by the thousands because we're fucking monsters who believe in nothing but violence and death and fear"

[–] [email protected] 37 points 1 year ago

I just want to echo everyone else by saying there is a bullet out there with your name on it. Go find it if you have such a hard on for war.

I browsed your profile for a bit, you don't seem like a bad person. Credibly left-leaning, even; why're you doin' this? Do you mean that the Pentagon are fascists? You surely can't mean the Hexbear userbase, who generally consider the Russia-Ukraine war to be a pointless waste of life provoked by the US supporting a right-wing coup in Ukraine. What's fascist about being anti-NATO? /gen

Their last comment before this one was on a post criticizing the Democratic and Republican parties for both being behind the genocide in occupied Palestine, where they replied:

One side [the Dems] wants to give you affordable healthcare and housing, one side [the Reps] wants to quit NATO and suck off billionaires... Enlightened Centrists: BoTh SiDeS!!!

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago

One side [the Dems] wants to give you affordable healthcare and housing

Well shit why haven't they actually given me those yet?

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 year ago

First we were centrists, and now we're fascists. Talk about being politically confused. Maybe they're from a parallel universe where any of this shit makes sense.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Genuine question: Why should the Russian speaking people of Donbass and Crimea be subjected to ethnic cleansing and displacement by neo nazi banderites in charge of one of the most corrupt governments on earth?

Also you blue maga libs really have no business calling anyone fash, your side is in open support for genocide and the normalization of international neo nazism
