I managed to, through Lutris, with an old cracked version. Although I had to use winetricks to install a bunch of extensions.

Is there a website that lists extensions you might need to install in winetricks for any given game?

I feel it would help a lot to have a source like that at hand...

The interface is quite dated, but this should be what you're looking for: https://appdb.winehq.org/

It's like protondb, but for wine (and also older)
