It is a good symbol of a proletarian coffee. That or one of those depressing cappuccino machines. Mind you, I'm a prole in the coffee industry, so I get all the espresso I want.

I’d argue it’s more a symbol of capitalist exploitation.

All the other types of coffee are generally enjoyed, whereas drip coffee is basically just functional. And that function is to make workers slightly more productive. And widespread, widely normalized caffeine addiction is mainly a result of that. Someone saying “don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee” probably isn’t talking about an espresso.

Capitalists took something good and asked how they could make it as cheap as possible to extract maximal profits while also using it to their advantage, drip coffee was the answer.

nah, the moka pot is also "proletarian" and also makes good coffee.

the drip nonsense is just tea drinkers brewing coffee as if it were tea. it's just wrong.

Maybe I have no taste at all but I prefer drip coffee to most others. I almost never drink it, but enjoy the harshness and bitter when I do. I only have the trotskyist machine at home, but I also never use it and drink tea instead. But still, I have to defend drip coffee. I just kinda like it. Plus it's super easy to make a lot and share
