Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.

As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.

Thank you and happy chatting!

I'm not doing what I have to do.

I'm currently reading 3 books, but I want to read more. 3 should be enough. Before, I was reading much more than that.

Now that I just finished a book, I want to replace it with something else.

How do I stop myself from reading too much?

UGH

(This isn't a bit, this is genuinely a problem for me...)

Sounds like any other addiction like drugs or videogames, you’re just like the rest of us—addicted to escapism.

Unless you can get your rocks off reading instruction manuals, in which case IDK what to tell you. There’s worse habits than reading. Maybe join a book club so you can do some socializing too and not turn into a weird loner readinghermit

I'm not addicted to escapism though; none of my books have escapist material in it.
