we've been in that crisis since the early 2010s, maybe even the 2000s with the explosion of cable tv and premium cable channels. capital has stripped the arts of so much wealth on so many levels that they created this giant network of streaming services and media companies that require constant content but if that content becomes more popular, it becomes more expensive to make.
What does it mean? every thing is getting more expensive. that's why there's so many reboots or side stories and less new original stuff. people can't watch everything so you're increasingly dependent on critical reception, which sucks, or just blindly grabbing shit out of the content void (im not a doomer, this option can be fun.)
this is why I encourage every artist to get involved in radical politics bc things like the writer's strike show you can always struggle against this bullshit bc bourgeois society is way more boring than whatever socialism happens will be
