Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.
As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.
Thank you and happy chatting!

For as much as we get called CPC bots, Putin puppets, etc., the liberals I've encountered on here and the 'grad are largely indistinguishable.
It's obvious they have been spoonfed their worldview by increasingly homogenous mainstream media. They seem to think platitudes and blanket statements should be accepted uncriticalally. They provide no sources or information for their worldview, they just dismiss ours.
I think this problem (in the USA at least) goes deeper than shitty media coverage. The USA has such an anti-intellectual culture. People seem to be unaware of why they even think things.
I used to be guilty of this myself. I remember one of the first doninos for me was when I realized I had no idea why I thought Cuba was an evil place. Then I did some reading and realized I had been lied to.
In my experience, no adult is more vulnerable to propaganda than one that believes they are immune to propaganda, and the United States is loaded with people that believe that while wallowing in unexamined ideology they absorb uncritically.
