Anyone know if Lemmy logs IP? (self.div0)

For instance say I post a guide on how to do something related to piracy...should I be concerned that my IP is being logged? I understand if it is logged it is most likely saved on the instance server I'm posting on. What I'm asking is if I should be constantly using a VPN while browsing or posting on instances?

Thought about that this morning when i logged in. Went enable my VPN and re logged in just to be safe. Not that it matters much after all the traffic possibly linked to this username from my personal devices.

Best to assume it is much like reddit, so i would guess you can be tracked. However i dont think it illegal to guide someone on a pirate quest, as long as you dont link anything directly, or host files for others.
