My first question was "what is the Alt National Park Service? ". Here's the blurb from their front page.

The Alt National Park Service (AltNPS) was a movement that began around the time of the inauguration of President Donald Trump in January 2017. After the Trump administration imposed restrictions on the communications of various federal agencies, including the National Park Service, unofficial "rogue" or "alternative" social media accounts emerged. These accounts, which included the AltNPS, aimed to communicate scientific facts, environmental concerns, and information about climate change that they felt were being suppressed or underemphasized by the official channels.

The AltNPS specifically emerged as a response to the Trump administration's temporary suspension of the National Park Service's Twitter account after it had retweeted images comparing the crowd size at Trump's inauguration to that of former President Barack Obama's.

While it's important to note that the AltNPS was not an official branch of the National Park Service, it gained a significant following and served as a platform for discussion on environmental issues, climate change, and the importance of protecting national parks and public lands.
