It started because some guy thought he heard yiddish at night.
if i remember correctly that tweet was from some right wing grifter that faked it after the fact. i think people from within the synagogue ordered the tunnel to be filled and then it got out of hand and police got called.
you remember wrongly, its even dumber than that it was some twitter troll pretending to be some right wing grifter that faked it after the fact.
