Got into fixed riding this winter, challenged myself to ride 1000 miles this year on my 1988 schwinn Premis. Built a rear wheel with a flip flop hub, and I’ve been cruising ever since.

I signed up to do the half century (50k) as a challenge for me on my birthday, but once I was riding with the pack, I got caught up and did the whole 100k.

A bit sore in the sitbones and groin area, but overall feeling really good!

I was the only one riding single speed, let alone fixed! Got some props and shoutouts along the way though.

10/10, Will do again next year.

Nice! My butt suffers on those long rides too. What ratio were you running? Have any problems on any hills?

I’m rockin a 48-17 (I think? Maybe it’s 18). There was only one serious climb. It was optional, but since I was already there—I went for it. Definitely tough. Descending is way scarier. Happy to have my one and only brake for that.
