Shouldn't there be some sort of indicator that I will have to pay (or create a profile) in order to read this news?

I remember NYTimes was blocked in the past for me as well.

Someone recommended me a Firefox addon https://gitlab.com/magnolia1234/bypass-paywalls-firefox-clean and it seems to do its job.

Well, I don't know, do you mean like adding a flair? I even have an extension for going over a pay wall and it didn't work now, but yeah, sad. I think the only alternative is linking an internet archive link, but that kills the reader view.
