Introduction

Given that Yuru Yuri has romantic and suggestive content, this community needs some guidelines on what is OK to post. My initial rules for the community are too vague. With this post I hope to clear up what type of content is appropriate. This will be done in two parts. First some general guidelines with examples. Second a list of posts that were controversial or had discussion or precedents set.

General guidelines

With the help of @[email protected] I have a few concrete examples that will help to clarify.

First, a few general limitations:

• Anything NSFW and/or anything sexual in nature is not allowed.
• The character's pose must not suggest any sexual act/activity.
• Sub 18 year old characters must be decently covered up in sensitive areas. This includes around the crotch, ass and chest.
• Romantic subtext and shipping is OK, BUT only for characters of similar age and characters that are not family. So no Akane + Akari, no Rise + Nishigaki. But Akane + Tomoko is OK. Yui + Chinatsu is OK.
• Akane may be shown with her weird hobby as long as Akari herself is not included, and all other rules are observed. Note that in the show, Akane never gets weird with Akari herself. We should keep it that way.

This is OK.

• I consider the characters to be decently covered up. The water is not see-through so it actually hides sensitive areas.
• The nature of the situation is playful and not sexual.

This too risqué should NOT be posted.

• Kyouko is slighly censored but quite exposed. She is not covered up enough around the chest.
• Yui is barely covered up, too risqué.
• Akari and Chinatsu are decently covered up, and art with characters similarly covered up is OK.
• For adults characters, like Akane and China's sister, being covered up / censored as much as Kyouko and Yui right here should be OK, but don't go any further.
• Chinatsu and Yui's situation in the picture is considered to have romantic subtext. This is OK. If Yui was covered up like Chinatsu, that part of the picture would be OK.

Cases

Problem

The general guidelines have some terms that can be vague. Common sense is to be applied, but the edges can be gray and it might not be easy to know what is OK. Examples of these terms are

• "sexual in nature" and
• "decently covered up in sensitive areas".

One can ask

• what is sexual in nature and what is not?
• what is decently covered up?
• exactly to where do the sensitive areas extend?

Solution

To deal with this, as of 2025-06-08 and onward we will take a case law like approach. Some posts will have controversy, discussion or moderator input in the comments. If a posts is slightly over the edge, so to speak, I will set a precedent in that post's comment section with more specific information on why this is the case. These posts will be seen as cases and they can be cited and reviewed going forward. I may also set a precedent for things being actually OK where there were complaints and I feel that these complaints were not justified.

Enforcement

Hopefully this case law like approach brings more insight and makes moderation less arbitrary. If a post does

• not offend the general guidelines heavily
• no precedents have been set on specifics

a new precedent will be set but the post can stay up. This is so that

• the post can be referred to as a case with a precedent set
• not to immediately punish well meaning posters

Further more

• if a post breaks the rules and precedents, a warning is given
• if warnings have been given, future offending posts will be deleted
• if a post breaks the rules severely, meaning clearly beyond common sense interpretations of the rules, the post is deleted
• if multiple post from a poster have been deleted for violating the rules and precedents set, the poster can be banned from this community as I see fit.
