I made myself a wallpaper to force myself to study toki pona. Maybe someone else will like it too.

This resource pack is based on jan Poman's. I can't find the original link anymore, but the name was written in the resource pack itself. When I found it, it was already outdated, so I've been adding all the new lines, as well as lines from a few fabric mods. I've finally caught up with the official translation, so I'm ready to share it online.

It can be downloaded here: https://github.com/janLolen/musi-Manka/releases/

You can also clone this repository to get all the edits as soon as I commit them. I've included a batch file that copies the files to the default Windows resource pack folder.

It uses UCSUR, but cartouches aren't supported, so you need to use square brackets instead, for now at least.

Since it requires no additional effort, other than making a low resolution font, a sitelen telo version is also available.

Most of the work was done by jan Poman and by the official translators. jan Poman's resource pack is outdated so I've been converting the new lines and reverting some name changes (monsuta pakala instead of monsuta Creeper) caused by a rule that requires all translations to keep the trademarked names unchanged. Most mods' translations are original.

I've also started to diverge from both, as there are some translations I don't agree with. So monsuta pakala, if it's not in a noun phrase with other pis, becomes monsuta pi pakala leko, color names are now based on their in-game recipes, and effect names (but not potion names) are more descriptive. There are also some stylistic choices, such as names (Mojang, Realms, Lena Raine) not being tokiponized.

There are still some inconsistencies. Some are carried over from the previous translations, and some are new. But most of the lines you'll encounter in survival mode are correct.

The following mods are completely translated:

  • Chat heads
  • Cloth config 2
  • Configured
  • Mod menu
  • Nemo's Inventory Sorting
  • Yet Another Config Lib V3

The following mods are partially translated:

  • Jade
  • Sodium
  • Visuality
  • Xaero's minimap and world map

Also, some lines in the official translation were actually in Dutch for some reason. I translated them into toki pona.

So I ask in english, would “sijelo ike tenpo ale” be a working translation for “lifelong illness”?

Posting this here semi-exclusively (after putting it out on Soundcloud and shown to a few friends), "wide" release will be after video's done (that's been put on hold 4 months ago).

Not the best, said some things I wouldn't, broke grammar, but it's something.

Just managed to push it out before midnight, now it's 0:04.

Audio-only and instrumental versions are available on my soundcloud, all under CC-BY.

~~technically there's also an a capella version, but that's privated~~

Video is "low effort", but still took almost 7 hours to make (starting with writing out the lyrics on paper, scanning the papers, editing and cutting up the images, yada-yada-yada, rendering the video, and finally running through ffmpeg again because I changed my mind on one thing and using an ffmpeg filter was faster then re-rendering).

I know of lipu Linku. However, it doesn't have the names for all the ma and toki (e.g. toki Inli, ma Mewika, etc.), and I do not know all the endonyms so that I can tokiponize as needed. Is there a site with those? I know Wiktionary has some, but only in an appendix and it's inconvenient to access.
