Please use this megathread when talking about the current Steam sale or use the "Looking For Games" flair when asking for game recommendations - read the rules before posting.

Sale Countdown On SteamDB

To see if a game runs good on the Steam Deck use ProtonDB, search this subreddit or other websites - sometimes Valve's own verification system isn't that accurate or gives false hope for some users.

We all love playing our games on steamdeck, right? But, wouldn’t it be mega-annoying if some of the games we have purchased could be pulled out from right under our noses, without our knowledge, solely from the desire of the developer? This is becoming more and more of an issue, and affects all games (even those that run at a marvelous 10 fps on the deck, like oblivion at times), and I’m sure it is one that a lot of you feel deeply about. I ‘only’ have 200 steam games, but I still feel strongly about it :p

Because of this, I'm asking all EU citizens to sign the Stop Killing Games initiative; it's soon over, and is vital for game preservation in the future, which would be awesome for those of us who intend to keep our decks till we’re 82, as I do (I’m 22 right now, watch me finish my backlog by then). If it reaches the 1 Million mark, the EU has no choice but to address it, as prescribed by its own laws. I've attached the proposals description below.

Sign here!

https://eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public/#/screen/home

"This initiative calls to require publishers that sell or license videogames to consumers in the European Union (or related features and assets sold for videogames they operate) to leave said videogames in a functional (playable) state. Specifically, the initiative seeks to prevent the remote disabling of videogames by the publishers, before providing reasonable means to continue functioning of said videogames without the involvement from the side of the publisher."

As everything in the EU, hopefully this will also trickle down to North America and the rest of the world. Thanks for your time!

I might be the only one who could've used a post like this before purchase, but just putting it out there for anyone else!

I got my steam deck a few weeks ago, and loved it immediately! I've been gaming more, and more easily, than ever before, and it feels like this device was made for me. I was on here reading all the tips and tricks before my deck arrived, and I knew that I wanted some nice thin travel protection as well as a kickstand for watching media on a flight coming up this weekend.

It seemed (to me) like the consensus was that grip cases with kickstands and travel covers would have me covered, and I wanted the best of the best, so a week after I got my deck, my dbrand Killswitch showed up in the mail, with every accessory.

Putting aside the unnecessarily edgy marketing (yes installation video, I "f*cked up" my first screen protector, and the second - I had much better luck with the amFilm protector that includes an attached guide tool) I realized that my hands were hurting pretty quick using the deck in the grip case.

I took it off, put it back on, repeated. It might be the most ergonomic case out there, I don't know, but it still doesn't feel as good as the deck itself with nothing on it. I do have smallish hands, and even the smallest modern smartphones are too big for me to use comfortably. A testament to Valve that the deck feels so good!

Anyway, I ended up getting a tomtoc slim carrying case and a jsaux "tablet" stand, and I'm set for travel at half the price. The killswitch package wasn't a complete bust - the thumb grips are great, and the skin is pretty nice, though one edge wrinkled under a hairdryer (the black adhesive actually detached from the top layer and shriveled up, so there's an unsmoothable bump that will just be exposure therapy for my OCD).

Moral of the story, I guess, is just that the steam deck is awesome the way it comes and grip cases and other accessories might actually get in the way of that awesomeness if you don't really need them.

I have had my OLED 512GB for a long time now, and I have exclusively used it to play steam games. I have gotten plenty of enjoyment from that, especially on the go, but I feel like I'm missing out. I have tried everything, from emulators to trying non-steam games to modding, but nothing has been successful. Even with listening to guides and reading stuff I always still mess up somewhere, or something ends up different. I don't claim to be a genius with tech, but I'm relatively tech savvy and I feel as if I'm in the minority who still can't do anything. Does anyone have any recommended resources that could even help an idiot, or know people who are willing to help through the process? Thanks for your time.

On the back of my Battle.Net install guide last week, I went on to finish the Warcraft 3 fan campaign Rise of the Blood Elves entirely on my Steam Deck. I enjoyed it so much I wrote a review.

Warcraft 3 obviously runs perfectly on the Steam Deck, even when cranking up the settings with the 'Reforged' graphics. But the most surprising thing was how comfortable it was to play on the Steam Deck. I played a couple chapters at my desk, docked to a monitor with a mouse and keyboard but for the most part I used either a combo of the trackpads and triggers or the left joystick and face buttons.

Is anyone else out there playing Real Time Strategy games on the go?
