Hi everyone,

I decided to launch this community as a space for paradox game lovers in the Oceania region or timezone to come together and hopefully build something special.

I'm hoping that we can use this space to discuss the games, mods, and hopefully play multiplayer games together.

If you are interested in assisting with the running of the discord, whether that's hosting multiplayer sessions, or moderating the discord please let me know.

If you're interested in joining please join below: https://discord.gg/6GC4kputtV

Please feel free to invite your friends and whomever may be interested in this community.

Happy strategizing!

It's radio silent regarding the fate of this game.

It had a great potential; I love the supply chain feature and most of all the ages which makes it very replayable. That made it stood out for me.

But most people only see and say "iT has BaD grapHics, BooHoO!".

The Nubians are Christians whose country is larger and richer than Ethiopia. The Nile of Egypt runs through their cities and regions. Their villages are prosperous and they have fertile land.

Nubia Flavor Pack Trailer

Nubia Flavor Pack Showcase

I'm cybrxkhan, creator of the VIET and RICE mods, and I'm happy to announce that RICE will triumphantly return to Africa with its next flagship flavor pack – Nubia: Heirs of Kush, focusing on the diverse, exciting world of medieval Sudan, planned for release later in 2025!

For those who don't know, RICE is a mod that adds simple "Flavor Packs'' to different parts of the world, introducing flavor across the world that is grounded in historical authenticity, especially for lesser-known places, peoples, and histories.

The trailer and showcase were shown at Day 2 of ModCon, a regular fan hosted event focused on modding Paradox Interactive games like Crusader Kings, featuring trailers, previews, panels, and more. You can watch the rest of Day 2, hosted by Tarkusarkusar‬ and Generalist Gaming, here as well, at these links:

Further previews and dev diaries will be shown in the coming weeks, so stay tuned! You can also view more preview screenshots of the WIP build here.

Planned Features for the Nubia Flavor Pack

  • Reworking of RICE's old Nile flood mechanic into the Nile River Situation
  • A Baqt Situation to simulate trade and diplomacy between Nubia and Egypt
  • More cultures and faiths to depict the diverse peoples of medieval Sudan
  • New historical characters like Moses Georgios, king of united Makuria and Alodia in 1178
  • Decisions, activities, events, and other flavor to bring Nubia to life
  • ... and much more!

African Collaboration

This update will also be a collab with Ibn Battuta's Legacy, by fellow veteran modder Elvain, and Africa Plus, originally made by BlackEmperor and currently being maintained by iFrunx. They're already 100% compatible with RICE and each other, so do check them out:

I’ve been away from Imperator: Rome for a while and thought I’d start a new run to see if I could reform the Roman Empire and maybe stretch it into a mega campaign. Things were going smoothly… until I picked a fight with Carthage before securing Sicily.

Apparently, 60 ships and a senate full of cowards don’t win wars. Lesson learned.

This is part of a new series I’m recording as I try to re-learn the game and possibly convert the save into CK3 later. I added face cam this time around — you can literally see the moment I realize I’ve made a huge mistake 😅

Anyway, if anyone has advice for dealing with Carthage early on, or managing Senate influence while trying to stay aggressive, I’d love to hear it.

If you’re curious or want to offer feedback, here’s the episode: https://youtu.be/ep3r-wQtFxw

P.S. Imperator really deserved better. Still one of the cleanest-looking Paradox games.

Victoria covers the Late modern period but starts in the thick of it, the period is already underway. EU4 covers it, but it's late game, so the period is largely alt history by that point and tbh EU has had a more early modern focus for a long time and with them bringing the new start date into crusader kings territory I have a fear that EU5 will be even less focused on it. Honestly, Paradox games just treat it as this weird in-between: not feudal enough for CK, not “industrial society” enough for Victoria. EU4 keeps going earlier and earlier with its focus, with every new expansion making the early game more crowded while the 1700s and early 1800s are just an afterthought.

I know march of the eagles did the Napoleonic wars but my dream PDX game for a while now is one that focuses on the shift from the early modern period to the late modern on a larger scale focusing on the fall of old empires like Spain and the rise of the French British and Russians to achieve Hyperpower status, sort of like Imperator rome. So yeah, I’d love to see Paradox do a game starting in, say, 1715 and ending in 1836, bridging the gap between the early modern focued EU games and Victoria.

Anyone else would love to see this period get a more fleshed out game or even just a more fleshed out start date for the EU games?

Starminer looks to be the only announced Paradox Arc (Paradox's indie publishing label) game that has yet to be released. Could Paradox Arc not be long for this world? I would not be surprised if Paradox, outside of its relationship with Colossal Order, gets out of the 3rd party publishing business altogether.....
