I was thinking about packing myself a pb&j sandwich with some healthy snacks for lunch instead of spending money eating out. My mom packed pb&j sandwiches for me every day from kindergarten to high school and I don’t see why I need to stop now. I told my brother about this plan and he said that I need to grow up. In his opinion, it’s ok to eat pb&j sandwiches in the privacy of your home, but as a grown man, I need to eat something more sophisticated in public. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I know this might sound a little out there, but hear me out. I’ve been talking with a friend, and we both feel like there’s been some sort of shift since around 2019. Whether it’s within our personal lives, the world at large or both, things feel like they’e kind of gone from light to dark. Life was good, full of potential and promise and things just feel significantly heavier since. And this is covid, so it’s not just that. I feel like the world feels dark and unfamiliar very suddenly. We are trying to figure out if we are just crazy dramatic beaches or if this is like a felt thing within society. Anyone? Has anyones life been significantly better and brighter and lighter since then?

Been getting sleep paralysis my whole life since a young age. Happens few times per week on average. I sometimes try to study stuff about it cause it happens so often and there’s something I notice universally through everyone.

Sleep paralysis hallucinations are all scary and people always tend to describe seeing the same exact things as other people or have very similar experiences. People describe stuff like shadow people, figures standing in their room watching them, an old hag or old man, demonic-type entities, stuff happening around them that’s unexplainable, etc. Some people including me even feel physical hallucinations where it feels like someone is touching or grabbing us or something sitting on our chests and during these times I’m unable to open my eyes to see what’s there or what’s happening.

Seeing as the hallucinations aren’t exactly considered real hallucinations but more like ‘dreams’, why do we never see random stuff like we do in our dreams? We have all kinds of random dreams with random stuff happening all the time and some are happy dreams or funny ones where we see and do random things and of course we have bad dreams sometimes, but why with sleep paralysis do we only see stuff that would appear in nightmares?

Since this happens all over the world and to me personally and probably has happened to many people reading this as well I wanna know what your experience is with sleep paralysis and what you saw or felt and your stance on why we only see scary things and all seem to see the exact same thing or type of hallucinations?

I’m currently in school and working but been going to the gym to lift. I notice that I have been actually gaining muscle and strength from being consistent these past 2 weeks. I’m a former college athlete so it’s not like I don’t know what I’m doing there.

However, even after eating a meal I notice that I’m still hungry. It’s frustrating because I feel that it’s “killing my gains” I try to drink water but even then I still get hungry. I’m older (early 30s) now so my metabolism has of course slowed down. I notice it too, like looking at the mirror I feel that my face is not as thin as it should be. Before I was able to eat as much as I wanted to and burn it off quickly but I’m not competing at a high level now.

Is this a matter of not eating enough protein or just not controlling myself? Are there any methods to curb hunger or is this just having a strong will?

Thank you

Yes yes… pick glass up. put glass to mouth. sip. boooooom🤯 ————— no. What are good ways to start drinking water from someone who doesn’t drink water? It has no flavor. Sometimes, it does have flavor water has different flavors and some I hate. Also it’s really bland. I need to stop drinking sugar tea Snapple. I realize I need to do this so I chug a glass of water feel queasy and puke. (Chugging water and puking mostly happens if I do it when I first wake up trying to start off right)

One of my friends made this comment about how a married friend of mine treats me and acts like she has me around her finger and she does things to keep me like that. My friend said this after I described how this woman calls me for bogus emergencies and will text me all day but then stops responding randomly. She'll then ignore me for months then find some excuse to talk to me in an effort to keep me around her finger. What does that mean?

I'm 27, but my married friend is 36 with a 44 year old husband and she has 3 kids if that matters.

A situation just happened and isn't sitting right with me and I'm hoping for some more perspective. I'm going to give as many details as I can remember so this might get quite long. Thanks in advance for responding.

I was with my 3yo daughter at a small playground in the neighborhood next to ours. Both are exclusively townhouses, and the playground is only about 100 yards from my house. Both of my in laws were with us as well.

Near to the time we were leaving, a teenage boy (maybe 13 or 14) came into the playground and just stood there and watched my daughter. She would move to a new spot and he would casually walk over and watch her and us as well. We left within a few minutes, and had already planned to leave. My in laws helped her onto the stroller to leave and at the same time the boy walked up and stood about a foot away from them and just stared at them putting her in the stroller.

That was all weird and creepy enough but then as they started down the sidewalk he came up to me and asked my name, and the suffering conversation went as best I can remember:

Boy: you guys are leaving? Me: yeah she has to go to bed early Boy: is she your only kid? Me: I have a newborn son at home and we need to get back to help my wife. Boy: oh that sucks. Why does she go to bed so early? Me: she has preschool early in the morning and needs a lot of sleep so we need to get her home. Boy: oh that sucks

The whole thing confused the hell out of me. Why is this kid staring at my daughter? Why did he get within arms reach of her when it was time to leave? Why is he striking up a conversation with a 36 year old guy? If it was another person my age with their kid at the park it would be normal.

My initial thought was he is maybe on the spectrum, but I didn't really get those vibes when taking to him. The whole conversation felt really creepy. My other thoughts were maybe he's into very little children in a bad way, or that he's a young gang member looking for easy targets to traffic.

My neighborhood is pretty much exactly middle class for the area we live in. The adjacent one with the playground is slightly lower middle class.

Again, just looking for some more perspective on this situation. I don't want to go back to that playground after this which sucks because it's so close to our house and my daughter loves going there. My in laws were also super creeped out by the whole thing.

Thanks

Since I was young, it literally makes my body temperature rise and makes me so mad to hear people chewing. So even seeing someone chew with their mouth open does it. I've gotten better about not letting it bother me but if I've not had a good day, it's so hard to ignore. Are there any solutions anyone has found? Is this a condition?

I'm in Oklahoma, and I just paid $3.69 a gallon. That's really high I feel, and I don't recall paying more than that.

But on top of that, everything is just increasing non-stop. A bag of Halloween candy is $31! It kinda feels like everyone is trying one last money grab before everything falls apart. I hope I'm just exaggerating.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

All males I have dated, would come home after work and spend at least 30mins to 1 hour to poo and this would be almost daily. My ex even had a name for it. He has to go and "dominate", like what?

Anyway why does males take so much longer than females?

I personally don’t want any and I always get asked why I don’t want to have them but I never see people who want kids getting asked why they want to have them 😂

This is what I observed in Lampedusa, where thousands of people have arrived in the small city, and the city is not deporting them but allowing them to stay. I cannot comprehend why, if I were to illegally enter the USA, they would simply send me back.

I Wonder why affordable brands like Renault or Fiat don't make cars that look like Ferrari or Rolls-Royce with regular engine and options.

Why do cheap cars always look like cheap cars ?

I don't know anything about cars ans I don't really care about them. I am just wondering.

I do not say dollars one hundred. I say one hundred dollars.

Nearly every time I'm typing out something with money I end up backspacing because I've typed it out the way my internal monologue said it. (With $ after the amount)

The argument of "so we know if we are taking about dollars or something else" makes no sense to me.

Every other unit goes after. I don't write m100. I write 100m to show 100 meters. Same with every other unit notation that I can think of.

Why is the dollar sign before the amount? Why is it backwards of the way it is said? Why does it make me so irrationality angry that the dollar sign goes before the amount?

I was in class today, (an EMT class at a small private ems school I should add), and we were being taught by a new teacher. He is old and a veteran paramedic and he is definitely slower than our other teachers and was having trouble with pronouncing certain words. All of the students in the class have a group chat that the school made us make but they don’t monitor it. During the lecture, about half of the class of 20 or so were on their phones for the entire lecture on the group chat making fun of our teacher with ever mistaken word he said. This was a four hour long class and they chatted and blew up everyone else’s phones for the entire class. It devolved into making fun of the way he looks, speaks, and his larger figure. I normally wouldn’t care, but these guys were ignoring an extremely important lesson on treating heat stroke and snake bites (which is the majority of summer calls here in the south). I feel as though they might kill someone if they continue doing this, not only that, continue to kick out struggling teacher.

The context is I was having a talk with my senile grandmother and I was like wow grandma, it must be crazy to be so old the world has changed so much since you've been alive.

She's like yeah yeah about some details and I'm like wow grandma so you remember WW2?

She goes on to tell me an elaborate family story I've never heard before where my great grandfather had to spend most of his days hiding from international police after the war and was so paranoid he barely went out to see the sun because he was an "escaped refugee" from the war.

This is all Brazil. So apparently he fled the war to Brazil and that's where I come from.

Mother fucker.

I’m seeing a girl that is 20-60 min late to every date we’ve been on (about 5 so far) so wondering if that’s acceptable or any additional input here. Thanks all!

I’ve been scrolling through different subs and it seems like the consensus is that once you enter the workforce your life is over.

No friends, no dating, no life outside of work, no social interactions, they make it sound pretty depressing and like being alone is just what everyone has to cope with.

I know it’s gonna be harder to find friends outside of school, but Reddit makes it seem impossible and like life is bleak and meaningless.

Is this just redditors doomer posting or is it reality?

Probably different person to person but do ppl with prior open life style face challenges adjusting to committed monogamous life later in life? Are there studies about it?

I was looking up ways to describe skin tone for a writing project and olive is on the list. I looked up some pictures and a person with an olive skin tone looks either white or someone white with a slight tan. I've only seen 2 types of olives in my life, green and black. Why call a light-skin tone olive? Who looked at a light skinned person and said "They look olive." Or am I looking at the wrong Google images and olive skin tone is something else?

I got pulled for not completely stopping at a stop sign. Didn't get a ticket, but the cop asked, "Where are you coming from?" and "Where are you heading?" I gave him some BS answers, like 'home' and 'the store', neither was true, but what really are they expecting to hear? "I'm going to commit a crime"? "I'm coming from my meth lab"

I'm not one of those F THE COPS guys...I respect the police and not trying to come across as overly critical, but what's the point in asking those questions? Do people panic and blurt out things to get them in trouble? What would happen if I made it clear it was none of his GD business where I was going?
