I can’t think of a single time in my life that I’ve ever taken a nap. Being able to just lay down in the middle of the day and fall asleep feels impossible to me. How do y’all do it?

I’m genuinely confused over the use of the word “gringo”? Especially in the USA, considering their ancestors are Spanish(?) are the people that are latino not white? Are they Spanish/Native American? Why is there a difference between a descendant from any other European country as opposed to a descendant from Spain?

My mother is undergoing chemo for breast cancer. She has a couple more sessions to go before she can get the tumor out. She’s been having to go to the hospital almost weekly to stay a couple nights to get fluids. She can’t eat because anything and everything makes her nauseous. She can’t smell garlic/ other similarly strong scents because she’ll puke. She has been consuming only cranberry juice and those nutrition shakes (not so much). She can’t even keep water in. Her last chemo is a couple months from now and it sucks seeing her like this. Is there anything I can do for her? She can’t even speak or look at screens it’s so bad.

My dad ran a gutter business while I was growing up. I would go and help him often. I would often hang over the edge of roofs and hang the gutters no problem. Well, my brother is running the business now. I used to go and help him, but I suddenly became terrified of heights, so I stopped helping him, and he hired one of his friends. I'm even afraid to clean my gutters now, when before I thought nothing of it, now I'm terrified. What gives?

Long story short, my sister has some weird beliefs and has never taken her youngest child to school, preschool, daycare etc. he’s not even being properly homeschooled. He’s very quiet, doesn’t talk much, wets the bed at times, and still talks baby-ish. I’m worried about hiss development but I’m not the mother so I can’t really tell my sister anything. She says he’s fine and she doesn’t want to put him in school because she doesn’t want him vaccinated. I know how crazy this all sounds, but he’s a very awkward kid and it’s gonna get worse the older he gets.

I am opening a door into learning about Traditional Chinese Medicine and the word Oriental is used in a lot of texts. Old and modern. Personally I find it a beautiful sounding word.

Growing up, my dad had this crazy girlfriend who would sometimes refuse to leave our home during arguments. A few times she had done some concerning things like bang on windows and doors until 4 am, at which point we would call the police to escort her off our property.

My dad told me that once you call the police on someone, if they leave the scene they can be prosecuted (I hope that is the right word, I am still learning 😞). Is this true?

I can not seem to find a clear answer online, and it occured to me that it may not be true. Thanks for any clarity!

edit: the way my dad explained it to me was that once you call the police, the situation automatically becomes a "crime scene" and is therefore illegal to skedaddle.

Before people misunderstand me as racist: where I live the majority of people are white. As a result of this, I don’t have much experience with cultures that are different to mine.

They’re Gujarati-speaking people from Maharashtra, some emigrated as recently as 2 months ago and have no prior English experience. Because of this, they haven’t really been able to tell me why they don’t eat meat, and they all really dislike touching it.

However, they’re all related. None of them eat meat, they all dislike touching meat/dairy products. Is this familial or a cultural thing?

Thank you guys for taking the time to listen to me (:

Edit: I’ve seen quite a few people being a bit angry with me in the comments. I was just curious about the cultural difference and wanted to learn.

I don’t make them food, we work at a Subway-style place where we make food in front of the consumers, the majority of which start with meat

So, let's say you won the powerball or whatever, and after taxes, you have 500 million U.S. dollars. Where do you keep the money? I know banks only insure a certain amount and I also know millionaires have assets like stocks and real estate to invest in. But if you win the lottery, where do you as a new millionaire keep your money?

And to make the obvious joke, yes, you could fill a large pool with it and go swimming like you're scrooge mcduck, which is one of the things I plan do to if I ever win the lottery.

It seems like over the past several years, Disneyland and Disney World have gotten so expensive and I just feel taken advantage of the entire time I'm there. The food is garbage and expensive. The lines are insanely long. It feels way too crowded. It really just feels like I'm being squeezed for every dollar they can get out of me in exchange for very little actual enjoyment.

Is this true about Disneyland or am I just getting old and grumpy and finally seeing Disney without the rose colored glasses of my youth?

Just a little curious. Did your life change for the better or worse? Did things get weird between you and your partner after having the title of being “married”?

Instead of asking the typical opposite of why don’t you want to have kids, as I am in that category and know my reasons.

Why do you/people WANT to have kids & raise a family?

I didn't watch a lot of the more popular cartoons because they were "satanic". Everyone talks about how good shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show were and ngl I'm kind of jealous that I didn't get to see it when I was younger.

If it was just to keep their feet warm, they’d be socks. Babies don’t need tiny workboots with rubber soles on them when all they do is lay there. Why make them? Why buy them?

I (21m) don’t have a lot of job experience. I recently got a job at a popular fast food chain. Would there be any major repercussions if I quit, almost immediately, in order to accept a job at a better paying company that I applied to around the same time?

Things are more expensive than ever it feels like and I go to several different grocery stores but it seems the general quality of everything is dropping severely.

Rotting fruits and veggies on the shelves. Tasteless fruits as well. Meat that is past its sell by date constantly. I bought a rack of lamb and it went bad basically overnight. It was like 34 dollars for the tinest rack of lamb I have ever seen as well. Brands that I have never seen before and/or don't see again so it's hard to find something consistent. Food like cereal and chips are priced so ridiculous and the boxes are only getting smaller. What's going on?

Not sure if that's actually the case but it seems like a lot of things and sources , articles, and pages that I used to look up and be able to find, can't find any more now. the search results seemed a lot more diverse, has anything like that occured to you as well?

Today I was at work and my coworkers started making plans. They were talking about it the whole day, and I'm not mad that I'm not going, but I feel uncomfortable in that situation. The worst part is that there's only one girl who also didn't invite, but they didn't do it because they knew she already had plans.
