I posted asking how to make a sheer pearlescent polish appear less sheer. Many people replied I should try putting it over a darker polish. Thanks for the advice everyone! I did that with this purple I had on hand (I'm at my partners, where I keep a smaller collection of nail polishes).

As I suspected, it almost completely drowned out the purple hue you can see in the bottle (image from original post below). It's kinda pretty in its own right though. What I don't like is that you can tell that the purple isn't completely even, as tends to be the case with only one coat of a darker colour. Can't do more coats without it peeling, either.

I think I might try a light colour underneath next, to see whether that makes all the shades in the bottle show up!

Any clone fans present? :D I saw a fanfic collab for fanfic about the 501st to be posted on May 1st, so naturally my mind went to nails!

I've got a blue skittle picked out to wear next week, and even two pedi options that I will prob do half and half.

~~excuse the mat~~

Cast of blues:

  • Cracked - Nuclear Coolant
  • Rogue - Scary beyond all reason (HHC Feb '25)
  • Dam - It's Not Electric (Oops July '24)
  • by Dany Vianna - Rainbow Fluorite v.2
  • Crying Obsidian - Ribbit Stickits
  • 12th House - Lumen (Pisces mystery)
  • Alchemy Lacquers - Enigmatic Fortress 🌑️
  • Arcana Lacquer - Mushroom-lit Cavern 🌑️

--

I'd initially started out only to find one blue that I felt matched the best, since I don't really do art and haven't tried stamping yet, but as they all lined up one after the other, they looked too good as a skittle to turn down. Nuclear Coolant was eliminated, it wasn't quite the right shade that I wanted, but everything else met the vibecheck, imo.

It's three coats of colour for a total of five coats. Any more than that usually peel for me.

I took a chance on this polish (mostly on a whim because of the name haha) and I'm quite enjoying it, though normally I don't wear teal and I'm not used to seeing this color on myself.

And this glitter polish was immediate favorite!

Same concept as 'natural' makeup: while it's obvious that there's polish if you know what nail polish looks like, it just looks like better looking natural nails to the untrained eye. It's just base coat and matte top coat. It's become my go-to for when I'm not feeling any colour or design. Looks better than my naked nails and I get the benefit of having them protected from water, so they don't split as much.

Please let me know if this doesn't fit in the community!

I need advice about my mums nails.

She got a bad mani in the 90s where they buffed off waaaay too much from her nails. Two entire layers. As her nails grow, those two layers appear at the cuticle, but peel almost immediately. She's just been cutting them off right as they appear.

For about a year now, she's been REALLY trying to grow them out and get her natural nail thickness back. She diligently uses nail oil and is just generally careful with her hands. But they're still not fully back, sometimes they grow up to like the middle of the nail, and then peel again.

Any idea of what she can do? Any product tips that I can get her for Christmas?

Thanks so much in advance!

The aurora nails took so long but I'm really happy with how my sister's nails came out!

Hello! I'm in need of full cover tips that are like the shortest possible, I bought Una Gella x-short round, and I bought btartbox x-short almond, and they are both still quite long for me. I suppose I have short nailbeds.

Can any of you recommend full cover nails that are truly extra extra short? The shape doesn't matter so much, almond, square, round, squoval, doesn't matter, just need the shortiest possible for hopefully the most minimal filing possible. This is like life or death for me at this point, as dramatic as that sounds over nails, haha.

Thanks!

What do you think? Ccw

Left hand flags: progress pride, trans, non-binary, genderfluid, agender

Right hand flags: progress pride, lesbian, gay, bi, ace

Having to narrow it down to just 10 (well, 9) flags was a bit of a challenge, but I think I got in an all round inclusive selection, no?

Already have a couple of chips in the polish, I want to cry, but it was still worth the effort!

This would've been much easier with tape but I didn't have any lol

Vrenmol is the brand for anyone curious

A polished nail feels differently in my mouth, which is enough to make me realize I'm doing it and then to stop myself. Here's my current mani vs one of my first

It is very funny imo that according to my nail polish diary, my first manicure of 2023 was cirque colors pony up, and in the brand new year of 2024 I open the festivities by wearing dark horse by mooncat -- another brown, horse themed polish. What can I say? they're both great!! Although the formula here finally lived up to mooncat's infamy. Very gloopy, needed so much thinner right out of the gate, and I don't think it was enough.
