Hi @maegul, I just wanted to let you know. It's not perfect yet, but it's something I'll be working on in the coming months after the first release. Thanks for pointing it out, it's a relatively simple change, but it makes a significant difference in the overall experience.

Whenever you use this format

in threads and comments, the image preview itself usually seems to show fine, but the text disappears.

Also, while we're on the subject, imgur previews haven't been working in general for a while.

Any idea what's causing these things and when they might be fixed?

So I like the random posts and threads sections on the main page as they help me find new content, but all too often, they're filled with posts from accounts that I have already blocked. Could we modify these sections to filter out blocked users?

Boosts and reduces now redirect me to the Kbin error page. Anyone else having this problem?

Whenever I try to view the threads page of [email protected] (i.e., https://kbin.social/m/[email protected]), I get an error. It's only kbin.social where this happens, and it's only the threads page of this specific community. I can view the microblogs, the people, and even individual threads, but the threads page throws an error for some reason. Any idea what's causing this?

I want to create a new thread. I am subscribed to [email protected], but how can I post a new thread on it? When I go to the "Add thread" screen, the magazine dropdown appears to only show local kbin magazines.

Can I post new threads directly to a lemmy community from kbin? Or can I at least crosspost to a kbin magazine and a lemmy community? If so, how?

They seem to allow pedo crap (like actual advocacy), thus putting our instance into danger.

So to my immense joy, Hexbear has started appearing on the front page again. Instance blocking is not available, and even the regular block feature sometimes fails (on certain communities?) for no clear reason. I've already tried blocking their "DuNk tAnK" and politics sub, it errors in a way that doesn't seem to happen otherwise. No idea why - more info on error pages would be nice - and I'm curious if that's reproducible for anyone else. (I'll hold off on being overly conspiracy-minded, but isn't it quite interesting that it doesn't seem to happen to other instances...)

As a stopgap measure I've hacked together these uBlock Origin compatible filters. Fairly easy to change if you want to block other/additional instances - or narrow it to specific Hexbear communities, though I can't imagine why you'd want to.

I see threads that has a YouTube video on it - in a way that you can start watching it right away from the thread.

How is it achieved?
The "add media" -button's URL doesn't do anything.

Is there a way (on kbin.social) to edit the body text of a thread that links to an image? I can see how to change the title, tags, badges, and NSFW and OC flags, plus remove the associated preview but not how to edit the body text. Am I just missing it somewhere, or is it really not there? (I'd like to fix some typos I noticed in a recent post I made...)

Hi all,

Today I found out that there is a community over at lemmy I would very much like to join (via Kbin of course). I had searched for that community earlier through Kbin using the 'Local and Federated' option when searching but I hadn't seen any results.

This made me wonder how many communities I thought didn't exist in the threadiverse actually do. I searched for another community by visiting Lemmy directly and lo and behold, that was indeed the case. These communities exist over at Lemmy but I cannot find them using the Magazine search, even if I select 'Local and federated'.

Is there a way to search for/add/subscribe to communities at Lemmy, or elsewhere at the fedi/threadiverse from Kbin? Am I missing some feature or hack?

A small thing here. The option for users to individually choose to subscribe to specific threads to get notifications for new posts. I often see threads of curiosity to me, that I personally have nothing to say in that moment, but might want to see what others say.

I know there's block, but "block" currently blacklists the entire magazine. If I click on it, it wipes all the threads on /all/, prevents me from looking at threads on the magazine landing page and all comments in the threads should I venture in. A "filter" would be a soft block that just clears it from my feed on the main page. I could still directly browse the magazine if I wanted to.

How do you crosspost (in kbin.social)?

I notice myself constantly thinking about the (more silent) magazines I have subscribed to and how they are faring.

I know that I find the magazines I have subscribed to through my profile and the subscriptions. But for reasons I cannot materialize to words that feels like a convoluted way to approach these magazines.

I'm not so sure what I'm trying to say - I guess I just hope there was a view equivalent to https://kbin.social/magazines that showed only the ones I have subscribed to (maybe there could be an option, a box you could tick?) and maybe showing the last time someone created any kind of activity within a magazine?

Would it be of interest for someone to set up an /m/abandonedcommunities or /m/findamod or even some /m/revivedcommunities magazine to act as a megaphone for revived communities of interest, or to bring attention to unused communities? I know there's abandoned list but it's effectively a big wall of communities.

There used to be a handy 'hide' option hiding under the 'more' menu. It seems to have been removed. Any chance of getting it back?

Would it be acceptable in kbin etiquette to add a tag in at least one thread in a magazine I created, and when talking about stuff in other places that touch the same topic, I use the same tag there as well to "promote" the existence of the magazine?

When I first joined Kbin I posted threads due to being a reddit refugee but have started posting microblogs as time went on. I have also noticed some magazines have more threads while others have more microblog posts. For example kbinmeta has more threads while the most active magazine I moderate has mostly microblogs.

I'd like to save useful comments and posts for giggles and knowledge. This feature exists in reddit and Lemmy.

Do we have it in here?
