Dieselpunk & Decopunk Art - Iron, Smoke, and Rivets

Guidelines

  1. Titles should be in the format "[Title]" by [Artist]
    • If adding the artists social media handle after their name, use [square brackets]
    • If adding a year after the title, use (parenthetical brackets)
    • If posting your own art, preface the title with [OC]
  2. Please include the original source in the post body
  3. This community is meant for showcasing artists' work - this excludes
    • AI generated artwork
    • Screenshots from films or games
  4. Submitting the link from the original source instead of downloading and rehosting is recommended
    • This will ease server stress on smaller lemmy instances
    • /!\ Many mobile apps don't generate previews unless the url ends with a common file extension /!\
    • Therefore, if possible, please strip all parameters after .png, .jpg, etc.
  5. Mark posts as NSFW when necessary (nudity/violence)
  6. Due to the inextricable nature of the dieselpunk artstyle and WWII content:
    • All nazi and nazi-like (example) insignia should be marked NSFW
    • I will clarify that this community has a zero-tolerance policy for nazi sympathy

war mech in for a service

now normally i'm not a huge fan of this sort of colour-block style; but i think it really works here. it kind of juxtaposes the brutality of the giant mech with the cosyness of the drink and warm colours of the blowtorch

ORIGINAL ART WORK
Yute and Tocuyo’s Imachinarium

Mixed media sculpture, metal, leather, resin and acrylic painting, 40cmsx50cmsx30cms

A popular vehicle, it was invented by Yute and Tocuyo to move around short distances inside the Imachinarium. The retro fish does not have any particular kind of fish as reference, just a generic archetypal shape of a chubby fish, but I did add a kind of fishing rod on its front which Yute uses to give direction to the machine, and which reminds me of the weird angler fish that lives in the deep ocean. The rod provides direction and light, which is metaphorically speaking, what Yute and Tocuyo are looking for in their quest for answers.

From Fallen - Destinypedia, the Destiny wiki:

The Fallen, known in their own language as the Eliksni, are an insectoid alien species, infamous for being notorious scavengers and raiders. (...)

The Fallen are a nomadic race of pirates and scavengers descended from a once-great civilization.

Thinking of starting a new series, some steampunk/dieselpunk and art deco mix. We'll see how that pans out.
Pretty happy with this one, almost no editing in post - Just a bit of contrast, that was all.

Personal work. I'm thinking of diversifying my income stream, by getting into the print game. This is the first image of a series, with a Dieselpunk aesthetic. A sci-fi, 'what if' world, set between the wars.

Beriev Be-15 was designed to fly thru immediate residual radioactive material propelled into the atmosphere following a nuclear blast. Its primary goal was to assess damage and measure levels of radioactivity in the atmosphere. Collected data would later be used to determine whether a specific area is habitable or not.

The ability to immediately fly thru the fallout of radioactive dust and ash was provided by heavy lead shielding around the crew area.

Clean air was provided by two Vedeneyev Gama VG-201 air scrubbers located on each side of the fuselage.

It was designed as a low speed low altitude aircraft, propelled by four Shvetsov radial engines. That was necessary due to plane's weight. Only one aircraft was built.

  • Model: Beriev Be-15 (Академик Сергей Королев)
  • NATO reporting name: Moth-B
  • Year: 1958
  • Crew: Two
  • Length: 11.26 m (36 ft 11½ in)
  • Wingspan: 9.63 m (31 ft 7 in)
  • Height: 3.80 m (12 ft 5½ in)
  • Wing area: 22.6 m² (243.3 ft²)
  • Weight: 5,846 kg (12,880 lb)
  • Powerplant: 4 × Shvetso
