We live in a dystopia where a vast majority of email accounts are hosted by surveillance advertisers. You cannot simply create a Protonmail account when the other person uses Gmail.

To worsen matters, all the fedi c/privacy groups are ironically populated by those who come from Cloudflare nodes and do not have a good grasp of privacy.

Indeed it was stupid for someone to send a large sensitive dataset over email. But what I find annoying is the lack of chatter about which email servers were compromised.

Was it Microsoft, considering probably 90+% of all gov agencies use it?
