I was wondering if anyone uses or knows of functional 'Sound Packs' for DCSS.

This is the current Sound Configuration i am using from https://github.com/Autofire/BindTheEarth

However after, commenting out broken sound settings, and making sure sox (provides play command) is installed i noticed most of the sounds still won't play because, the names of the sound files, that i download from https://starmen.net/mother2/soundfx/ , don't match the sound names from the BindTheEarth settings.

so i manually renamed some of the soundsfiles to make them match, which sort of works. I just don't know which file is supposed to be which, but i guess, i wouldn't mind trying out some other Sound Packs if i can find them.

I kind of stopped playing new versions around .28 because I really disliked the opportunity attacks mechanism, but I thought I'd give .32 a try. The new shapeshifter things look cool, but in fussing with it a bit it's harder than I expected.

I currently have one win with ye olde MiBe. Got lucky with good armor early on, and then cruised to a 3 rune (shoals + snake + vaults) win.

There was one dicey moment in the lungs where I went around the corner to reveal 4 orbs of fire, some draconians, and a lightning golem all waiting for me. Hasted + Fog'd my way the hell out there.

Havent played in a few years - beat with MiFi back then. Any suggestions on what to try next that isnt too crazy complicated/difficult?

In case you haven't been to /r/dcss recently, the devs have announced that they are moving forward with a revived official forum, which this Lemmy post links directly to.

I've read through the Options Guide and I've created an .rc file based on that. This .rc file is obviously based on my preferences and needs.

Note that I've also copied some stuff from other people that I've found online.

Every command is commented so it's easy for you to see what it does.

I'm not sure which is the ideal pick when playing hunter. Seems like there are a few that are ok. But is there an ideal one?

Is standard procedure to just drink Mutation every time? I got 5 before D14, drank 2 already.

With 3 remaining, I can't help but wonder what other great abilities I might develop... I struggled a bit going down, occasionally got pretty close to death, so I'm not sure how much I can risk as this point.

Will be going into Lair next.
