Age of Umbra - A Daggerheart Miniseries

If you are interested in Daggerheart or TTRPG, check out this series by Critical Role. It showcases the how exiting TTRPG can be specially with Daggerheart ruleset. It is still ongoing but it will have eight episodes so it is bitesized way to get into watching TTRPG. The series is super fun and exciting to watch and I highly recommend it.

AGE OF UMBRA

Small communities hold fast against the darkness of a dying world in Age of Umbra, a dark, survival fantasy 8-part Daggerheart mini-series with Game Master Matthew Mercer and players Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Liam O’Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, Taliesin Jaffe, and Travis Willingham. Death lurks around every corner, but five characters of the small community of Desperloch must band together to fight for hope for their community, risking it all for those they love.

Exciting news—our Darrington Press team has grown, adding Chris Perkins as our Creative Director and Jeremy Crawford as Game Director! We’re thrilled to welcome both Chris and Jeremy’s expertise in game design and storytelling, honed through decades of experience working together on tabletop games such as Dungeons & Dragons, Star Wars Roleplaying, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, and Blue Rose. We’re enormous fans of their work and are honored to welcome them into our team.

I am very wary of that design choice.

  • Players already have a hard time keeping track of their character sheets. You know the 6+ cards they are responsible for will be lost, damaged, and so forth.

  • How many duplicates will there be? What happens if two players want the same character archetype / ability?

  • If the DM wants to check a rule, they have to look through a deck of shuffled cards instead of just turning to page 56.

  • Does replacing a card mean buying a whole new set? Will there be booster packs as the game evolves?

Maybe I'm the minority here, but I am very concerned about this. It's a shame because aside from the use of cards, I love everything I've seen about Daggerheart.
