Like I would have months where I would take out a big pile of cash once and never use my bank card. Other times, I would have certain sides of town where I would use cash only or card only and switch it. I told myself I was playing 'opsec games'. Stupid stupid stupid.

Sometimes I like to laugh. Even since being diagnosed with ADHD, I will dogmatically stick to these bizarre ideas that come to me on a lark. Thankfully, I was able to talk myself out of train hopping with no real purpose or preparation. I've also completely avoided tattoos.

Is there anyone here that I can stand on so that I'll look taller?

Holy shit I've done so much lately i can't believe it's just been a week. Spent a couple more days in Prague. Prague has a very large (north) vietnamese population so i went to Sapa (little Hanoi) to check it out. Definitely not a tourist spot but cool to see and get some lunch in, quite a number of communist flags flying there. Praha zoo is absolutely incredible, seven hours there and i didn't even see the whole thing.

Went on a day trip to Kuntá Hora (Kuttenberg for you nerds.) it's another beautiful little city. Seeing some of the places from Kingdom Come was pretty cool but by far the best parts were the Sedlec Ossuary and the Church of St Barbara.

I moved to Brno, second largest city in Czech Republic, on Friday. Got here just in time for their cultural fest, several nights of fireworks a drone show and a bunch of other stuff going on. I'm typing this while sitting in the court yard of Veverí castle over looking the looking the lake. Took a boat out here and I'll hike the 4 miles back through the forest and along the lake.

Thinking my next stop will be Budapest, it's only a couple hours by train.

Politics have consequences. When elected politicians vote to arms ongoing genocide, people die. When elected politicians vote to deny people healthcare, people die. Politics and its consequences is inherently violent. dennis. If you want nonviolence take up rattan basket weaving

Or rather that's how the news covered it. What had actually happened was that some conservative regions (really, the Deep South, Texas, and the likes) were blanket-banning anime and manga as "gay propaganda", so an addendum was made to a previous declaration about the broader human right to participate in cultural development.

I’ve had like a dozen contacts join in the last few days, wayyyy more than the average of like 2 a month (if that). Really hoping it’s people getting exposed to the horrors of Israel. idf-cool

I’m estranged from my family and have been for 10 years. I found out the police were trying to get a hold of me, but couldn’t because I am in Spain now.

Knowing his history and long term struggle with mental illness, it’s most likely suicide. I really, really hope it’s not something worse.

I tried calling the police department and they’re so, so fucking dumb.

Me: “Hi I’m calling in regards to a missing person’s case. I heard that the detective was trying to get a hold of me?”

Pig: Huh? Missing person’s case?

Me: Yeaaaaahhhh??? He went missing 2.5 months ago.

Pig: So are you reporting someone missing or are you asking about someone missing?

Me: ????????? I’m asking about someone missing [Brother Name]

Pig: Oh. Let me look. It up…. Yes SHE went missing.

Me: Huh? You mean HE.

Pig: Looks like they were found, can I do anything else for you?

Me: Uh, no, that’s great to hear. Thanks.

——- 5 minutes later ———

Pig: SOOOOO I was wrong she I mean he are still missing.

Me: OK? Sooo.

Pig: The detective will want to talk to you. I’ve sent this number to the detective. They will call you back.

——— 1 Hour Later ———

Sergeant Pig: This is Sergeant Pig, what do you want? (WOW, PROFESSIONAL.)

Me: I’m calling about my missing brother, he’s my sibling. I heard the detective was looking for me.

Him: Oh. Who is he again?

Me: [Brother Name]

Sergeant Pig: Oh yeah he’s still missing. Give me your e-mail and I’ll have the detective contact you.

Me: [Gives e-mail]

Sergeant Pig: [Doesn’t check spelling] OK I got it I will let the detective know and they’ll contact you. (Click)

I still haven’t heard back and I need to call again. Double bonus, I am AFAB and the local press referred to me as the “niece” who possibly kidnapped my brother. (Press was talking to my aunt) SUPER.

ACAB.

Anyway, feels like shit. Even if we hadn’t spoken in a long time because our mother is a monster. Part of me knew it would end like this, but it’s still shit. Don’t know how to feel. I’ve been vaping too much, but I’ve been avoiding alcohol and I’ve been trying to keep up with things because I don’t have the space to sink over this.

Title. I totaled my car by rear ending another. Luckily nobody was hurt at all, I steered off when I understood I won't be able to stop so it was mostly side-to-side contact, caught between a highway barrier and the other car. It happened 7 hours ago and I am still shaken. It was clearly my fault.

I am privileged to have savings so I am able to cover my expenses for a new car (I need one due to my living situation), but it still sucks a lot.

I just wanted to get this off my chest.

I am just happy that nobody got hurt. Drive safe everybody, and fuck cars

"Tailless whip scorpions"

Apparently Taylor Swift is a fairly popular name for pet tailless whip scorpions, so evidently I'm not the first person to notice the similarity.

China compromised. It eschewed de-dollarization to continue a dollar based export economy under the more liberal faction (Li Qiang...)

Russia compromised. It seems the same happens with liberal faction overtaking the war economy faction

And to be caught pants down with that Ukrainians drone attack

Iran compromised. The Sunni coalition and Amrikkka surround it and its allies like eagles while Israel bombs it with little reprecussion, with Baathists and nearly Hezbollah neutralized.

That isn't to say their war is lost but that there's no salvation from them outside, anytime soon shrug-outta-hecks

All the while, creeps back in this petty pace of life, fascism in the full flesh, in the west.

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow

Edit: I could be wrong but I don't wanna be disappointed at this point

There's a solitary man cryin', "Hold me"

It's only because he's a-lonely

And if the keeper of time runs slowly

He won't be alive for long

It just resonates with me, eh

Leave it to Bibi?

Coincidental pizza index spike at Pentagon before Israels attack on Iranian nuclear scientists in their homes in Teheran.

https://www.brookings.edu/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/06_iran_strategy.pdf

Pizza Index:

The Pizza Index refers to the sudden, trackable increase of takeout food orders (not necessarily of pizza) made from government offices, particularly the Pentagon and the White House in the United States, before major international events unfold.

Government officials order food from nearby restaurants when they stay late at the office to monitor developing situations such as the possibility of war or coup, thereby signaling that they are expecting something big to happen. This index can be monitored through open resources such as Google Maps, which show when a business location is abnormally busy. Conversely, on-site locations around government buildings (such as bars or night clubs) that show less activity than usual also give an indication of the pizza index, as government employees that would normally go to these locations after work are instead still in the office.

The index can be used by those not employed by these agencies to get an idea of what a government, and particularly its intelligence agencies, is focusing on or expecting to happen in the next few hours or days. For example an increase in orders could be an indicator that the US expected war to break out between the two countries before any public confirmation was made in the media or on TV.

Loaded up the washer last night, added soap then promptly walked away without starting it.

Then I fell asleep on the couch waiting for my laundry to finish so I could move it to the dryer.

I overslept through two alarms, and am currently 30 minutes late as it is. Laundry started washing five minutes ago.

Happy Friday yall.

Edit - going plumbing in my short pants today. Fuck it, it's Friday.

That does actually tell you where because only usaians are arrogant enough to think that would be meaningful.

Nobody else on the planet is like this and so it does tell you it's the USA. This ticks me off because it deserves to be met with mockery.

If you don't know where the original York with any precision idk why you would think I'd know much about the sequel.

Complete abstention from political action is impossible. The abstentionist press participates in politics every day. It is only a question of how one does it, and of what politics one engages in. For the rest, to us abstention is impossible. The working-class party functions as a political party in most countries by now, and it is not for us to ruin it by preaching abstention. Living experience, the political oppression of the existing governments compels the workers to occupy themselves with politics whether they like it or not, be it for political or for social goals. To preach abstention to them is to throw them into the embrace of bourgeois politics. The morning after the Paris Commune, which has made proletarian political action an order of the day, abstention is entirely out of the question.

We want the abolition of classes. What is the means of achieving it? The only means is political domination of the proletariat. For all this, now that it is acknowledged by one and all, we are told not to meddle with politics. The abstentionists say they are revolutionaries, even revolutionaries par excellence. Yet revolution is a supreme political act and those who want revolution must also want the means of achieving it, that is, political action, which prepares the ground for revolution and provides the workers with the revolutionary training without which they are sure to become the dupes of the Favres and Pyats the morning after the battle. However, our politics must be working-class politics. The workers' party must never be the tagtail of any bourgeois party; it must be independent and have its goal and its own policy.

The political freedoms, the right of assembly and association, and the freedom of the press — those are our weapons. Are we to sit back and abstain while somebody tries to rob us of them? It is said that a political act on our part implies that we accept the exiting state of affairs. On the contrary, so long as this state of affairs offers us the means of protesting against it, our use of these means does not signify that we recognise the prevailing order.

— Karl Marx, Apropos Of Working-Class Political Action

It just feels like that shit has ramped up. Like it's gotten particularly scummy and bad lately?

Capitalist countries have always covered everything in advertising, sure, but lately it seems even spaces that used to be safe from it are being poisoned by the most scummy adverts.

For example, I can't believe people are paying sometimes more than $1000 for a phone and then, boom, there is advertising in the settings menu.

I've also noticed that a lot of products and services are just openly scammy now too. Like really fucking bold in being greedy in a way that was at least slightly covert in the past. It's hard to explain what I mean, but just as example look at this:

"Pay us $200 for the opportunity to pay us another $150 and for a security app that probably is the same as the one the phone comes with, also customer support that we should be doing for free?"

The proliferation of AI. Windows adding advertising directly into their OS. You lift any modern device out of sleep mode and that shit has a push notification telling you to buy. Subscription streaming services that have the gall to charge you an overpriced subscription and then insert advertising and lock some shows behind a second paywall? This is just becoming like a parody you'd see on Futurama. It's just suffocating.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I've noticed there has been an increasing trend to shame people for not using a certain product. That's always been a thing, but it's getting worse. Like people saying that using a card to pay for things instead of a phone is for boomers. Like it's literally the same thing except if I use my card Google might get a little less predatory advertising data from me. People are increasingly not giving a shit that corporations are making a profile of what you buy, when and where you buy it. All data that can be used to flood you with advertising or even bought by scammers. You're treated as weird for caring about this kind of thing, even as the US is making collecting "lists" of trans people and "illegals".

I'm particularly worried that young people might be becoming more consumerist but I have to remind myself that when I was younger I was trapped in the same mindset. It just feels like there is less of a counterculture to consumerist BS these days.

There's no analysis of how this keeps happening to their party. People run as progressives [citation needed] and then do the same thing every single dem does once they get elected, and there's never any vetting ahead of time. It's always in hindsight that they put the pieces together, but the conclusion is always that they're a secret Republican. Couldn't possibly be that the two parties agree on everything that matters.

Can't wait for the next one they try to push!

One reason google is intentionally making search shit - is that google hopes to make people who avoid (or even hate) AI use it. People will get so frustrated they'll have a peek at AI summaries so they can at least get an answer no matter how shitty. Earlier today I search for "ordnance vs munitions" and my results were total garbage. One of my top results was at a word reference site. This was the frustrating "answer".

Please give us a sentence in which you might use these words. Tell us something about the situation you are describing. We call this information 'context'. It is required with every question.

I wanted to punch [redacted].

I asked in c/guns - https://hexbear.net/post/5211230 - and now I know.
