I’m from Spain. Madrid, to be exact. I know of mujico or feddit.cl because when I said I spoke Spanish to join-lemmy.org, that’s what I received. But are there any instances for Spain or from Spain?

Like if I was pressing a clay-like cardboard slurry into a prepared mold preped similar to a gel coated fiberglass mold, what might work well to seal or add a surface finish?

I could make a vacuum form for a thermoplastic wrap, but coating a mold first has long been a curiosity of mine. Foils and leaf seem obvious, but what about coatings?

I'm not talking about folding, cutting, or taping. I'm talking about somewhere between pulping, molding, additives, papier-mâché, low strength composites, and IKEA furniture.

I'm wondering how cardboard egg cartons are formed or any number of other logistics packing materials. That process must be relatively cheap to do and might have a lower environmental impact compared to many other materials. I have a collection of various cardboard and discarded rough card stock I use for custom boxes, storage, and jigs, but it would be cool to make 3d printed molds filled with a pulp like slurry of old cardboard to make stuff for the cost of time and trash.

I have a Mitsubishi Electric "MSZ-GL06NA".

The vanes seem to not move at all, regardless of any position.

The vane motor makes no noise either that I can hear.

Mitsubishi Electric doesn't provide on the phone help for end users.

And the internet is full of SEO spam.

I tried:

  1. Cutting the power for 1 minute.
  2. Setting vane to open / close and doing #1

Is there an external reset button perhaps, what else should I do for troubleshooting?

Edit 1: Solution found! Steps:

  1. Turn breaker off
  2. Remove front panel
  3. Remove Motor
  4. Twist motor to extremes then back to "closed"
  5. Remove motor wires and reseating
  6. Putt all back together
  7. Turn breaker back on. https://lemmy.ml/comment/18994396

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful dinner.

After we ate, he hugged me and brought me to his bed.

He got a heatpad out, and placed it on my stomach while cuddling me.

I fell asleep in less than 5 minutes.

I typically sleep after 10-15 minutes.

Why did the heatpad knock me out so quickly?

Edit 1: Going to perform a control test (headpad minus the boyfriend) in a few weeks: https://lemmy.world/comment/17421938

Serious or otherwise.

Update: Thanks for all the advice! The interview went really well! At the end, the department chair said he was going to talk to the Deans. Now all I can do is wait. Thanks again!

Has the news of famous persons death ever made you cry even though you never met them, or a stranger that you knew about but never met? Why did it make you cry?

I am in the process of building my own PC. Nothing fancy, just something that is much more powerful than the old PC I currently have. I've been using Linux on my laptop for a few years now (KDE Neon), and I'm very happy with it, I would like to put Linux on my next PC, but I have my doubts...

I don't know if I should stay with the distro I already use or if there is one that better suits my needs.

On the one hand, I'm a graphic designer but I've been using only FOSS for many years, I only use Adobe in the office (reluctantly). On the other hand, I have seen that thanks to Steam with Proton gaming on linux is getting better and better. What I don't know is if SteamOS can be good not only for gaming.

I would like to know if there is a distro that works well both for gaming and designing using FOSS (like Krita, Inkscape, KDEnlive, etc) or if it's ok to stick with KDE Neon.

I'm sorry but it doesn't make sense TO ME. Based on what I was taught, regardless of the month, I think what matters first is to know what day of the month you are in, if at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of said month. After you know that, you can find out the month to know where you are in the year.

What is the benefit of doing it the other way around?

EDIT: To avoid misunderstandings:

  • I am NOT making fun OF ANYONE.
  • I am NOT negatively judging ANYTHING.
  • I am totally open to being corrected and LEARN.
  • This post is out of pure and honest CURIOSITY.

So PLEASE, don't take it the wrong way.

Due work I’m going to spend a week this summer in Berlin and I have multiple questions.

First of all: How cashless is the city? Where I live (Valencia, Spain) I can count with the fingers of one hand the places that doesn’t accept ApplePay (or a contactless card).

I’m staying near the Alexanderplatz station. Any recommendations for dining there? I’m not going to eat at the hotel restaurant every nigh.

The weekdays I’m mostly being going from the hotel to conference centre and then returning to the hotel without no time to enjoy the city. So, for the weekend my idea is to visit one or two must see tourist places (like the Brandenburg gate), but also explore the city instead of following your average tourist route. Any suggestions? Like flea markets, parks, places that nerds would enjoy, real local food, etc.

Thanks.

My ex would always yell at me for pointless stuff and make me cry in front of his friends. They didn’t even like him, they just tolerated him.

My sister’s friend would blame my sister for stupid things and try to say it’s my sister’s fault, not hers. She would yell at her too and try to pass it off as a joke.

(We are very much healing now 🫂 Not perfect, but healing)

Reddit currently has a feature titled:

“Someone is considering suicide or serious self-harm”

which allows users to flag posts or comments when they are genuinely concerned about someone’s mental health and safety.

When such a report is submitted, Reddit’s system sends an automated private message to the reported user containing mental health support resources, such as contact information for crisis helplines (e.g., the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, text and chat services, etc.).

In some cases, subreddit moderators are also alerted, although Reddit does not provide a consistent framework for moderator intervention.

The goal of the feature is to offer timely support to users in distress and reduce the likelihood of harm.

However, there have been valid concerns about misuse—such as false reporting to harass users, or a lack of moderation tools or guidance for handling these sensitive situations.

Given Lemmy's decentralized, federated structure and commitment to privacy and free expression, would implementing a similar self-harm concern feature be feasible or desirable on Lemmy?

Some specific questions for the community:

Would this feature be beneficial for Lemmy communities/instances, particularly those dealing with sensitive or personal topics (e.g., mental health, LGBTQ+ support, addiction)?

How could the feature be designed to minimize misuse or trolling, while still reaching people who genuinely need help?

Should moderation teams be involved in these reports? If so, how should that process be managed given the decentralized nature of Lemmy instances?

Could this be opt-in at the instance or community level to preserve autonomy?

Are there existing free, decentralized, or open-source tools/services Lemmy could potentially integrate for providing support resources?

Looking forward to your thoughts—especially from developers, mods, and mental health advocates on the platform.

So, I live in Versailles, as my username says. I speak four languages, one of them being Portuguese. However, I speak Brazilian Portuguese (I am a born Chilean). Portugal is closer to France as it’s in the same continent, but Brazilians, or so I heard, have had a hard time understanding the Portuguese from Europe. Is it the same for in Portugal with Brazilians?

If not, I will have to study my European Portuguese! 😆

I'm homeless and living in a shelter. I had recently attained a remote WFH tech support job which was perfect because I wouldn't have to pay for transportation and they were providing me with the equipment I needed. I was sent a PC and monitor and I had tried setting it up in a semi obscured place in the shelter but the supervisor there informed me that I couldn't continue to work this way because "they don't know what I'm doing on it" which is a load of shit imo because they don't know what anyone is doing on the internet.

I had to be connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable. I tried:

  • going to the library (inaccessible router)
  • going to a cafe
  • going to a local college (company blocked captive portal)
  • using a travel router (company literally blocked the connection once I set it up, called coworkers and they said the same thing)

I was finally able to find someone who was offering a private room just for work but by the time I was set up I had already received a notice of termination in my email.

I'm beyond furious at the shelter staff and I don't know what I could have done to prevent myself from getting fired. I was to move into a place next week contingent on me keeping the job and getting my first paycheck but I had to contact my would be landlord yesterday to let him know that I can't move in. I keep replaying this scenario and I don't know what I could have done to not get fired. I guess I'll go fuck myself.

I'll go first:

Not even sure how I managed this one, honestly, but I accidentally took out a small chunk of fingernail from my thumb on the stud of my jeans.

Once again, no fucking clue.
