I’m feeling the pull to start being gothic.

I’m really fascinated by the fashion, the hair, the makeup, etc.

I also found out I lowkey like the music :) it’s a very alternative and bold lifestyle looking from the outside

So what was the reason you became a goth?

The idea of dying has always haunted me since childhood, and even though l'm a senior in highschool I keep having crisis about having little time to do all the things that I want in life; and I'm constantly afraid that I will die out of nowhere.

I've always found the goth subculture really interesting because it seems a lot of people in it find beauty in Death.

So basically, I was wondering what do you guys think makes it beautiful, how do you deal with fear of dying and even with ageing.

I have a question to other Goth men and women or anyone in that matter, do y’all like being sexualized?

Like me personally as a goth I don’t like it, but I ran into this person who was like ”goths love to be sexualized” and I genuinely wanna know if some of you like?

I think it’s very degrading and and it doesn’t make me feel good

This fanfic is so blatantly an emo kid’s fantasy, and clearly just wish fulfilment but I’m wondering what everyone’s opinions of it are. Do you feel offended? Do you think it’s funny? Do you think it was a malicious satire?

I personally think it’s hilarious and kinda cute, I remember being young and desperate to be cool

I am a baby bat myself, and no matter how much I try to argue with other people about politics, some arguments take me by surprise and I don't know what to answer people...

I often get questions like:

"where is it written that goths are political"

or

"but the soloists of several gothic bands are conservative, so how can you say that goths are political if even the creators of the songs are like that"

and als

"even if goths came from punks, this is a separate subculture that is not connected with them in any way".

Please help me, I don't know what to answer these people, and I'm already confused myself 😭

Does anyone remember VF forums?

Those used to be the good old days where I’d come come straight from school and hang out in the chat room.

There’s a similar site called VampFreaks.com which looks very nostalgic!

Anyone else heard of it?

Appears to look very similar to the old VF website.

I don’t know if this is vague or not, but I saw a post on another social media platform recently that got me thinking.

The post said something along the lines of: the first time I listened to sisters of mercy and alien sex fiend I fell in love and it felt like I was coming home.

And that got me thinking about how I got into goth. To be honest, it took awhile for me to adjust to goth music and nothing really appealed to me for a long time, until I searched for long enough and found stuff that was actually good. And even now, I don’t really think of it as “home” or some sort of “first love” or anything really sentimentally propped up an a pedestal, it’s just something I like that expresses who I am the best.

Does anyone else feel like me? Or do you disagree? What is goth music to you?

I found them yesterday just randomly in a reccomended songs Playlist and they sound really dark wave, but I'm not sure since I am still a baby bat.
