Welcome to the Monthly No Stupid Questions Discussion!

Have a question that your Google search hasn't answered yet? If you ask here, someone that has dealt with it before might be able to help. This thread will be created every month and pinned at the top of the subreddit to help new users. As long as discussion and questions are safe for work in nature (Don't link to NSFW tutorials, materials as sidebar states) you can ask here without fear of ridicule for how simple or overly complicated the question may be. Try to include screenshots if possible, and a description of any errors or additional information you think would be useful in getting your question answered.

Expereinced users should not be noob-shaming simple questions here, this should be the thread to learn. This has been a highly requested topic to do for this subreddit, and will additionally clean up the mirade of self posts asking what X, Y or Z error is or why your render collapsed.

Quentin Tarantino once said in an interview that he strongly considered casting Kurt Cobain for the role of Lance (the Drug dealer originally played by Eric Stoltz) after Cobain has put Quentin in the "special thanks" section on one of his albums.

I don't know how to do deepfakes but it would be really cool to see Kurt Cobain as Lance in the scene where him and Vince (John Travolta) revive Mia (Uma Thurman) after she overdoses.

Helloooo /r/SFWdeepfakes subscribers

Boy, what a whacky time we've all had lately, huh? Reddit decided to kill off third-party applications, a protest got planned (and possibly exploited by bad actors), the site showed up in the news, various communities started opening back up, others decided to stay inaccessible, and then the CEO of Reddit implied that a bunch of moderators would be removed from their positions!

Crazy, right?

Anyway, we – the so-called "landed gentry" – definitely want to comply with the wishes of the "royal court," and they've told us that we need to run the subreddit in the way that its members want. To that end, we figured that the only reasonable thing to do was directly ask how you'd like things to progress from here.

Which of the following should we do?

*Return to normal operations.

*Remove the restrictions on posting here and simplify the rules. *Change the focus of the sub to a new type of content which will be decided in a later poll.

It's entirely up to you! Whatever the /r/SFWdeepfakes community decides is best, we'll respect!

Vote, friends! Vote now!

(You can vote by upvoting either of the comments in the thread below.)

So I got Ubuntu 22.04 installed, installed dependencies like ffmpeg, git, got latest Cuda Version and drivers, installed Cudnn and Cuda Toolkit properly. I then followed nagadit's instructions to install. But when I bash the scripts, it doesnt give me the option to which component I want to use to train. It just uses the CPU automatically. What can I do so that it uses my gpu instead?

Apologies if people here are already familiar with this.

For context you can use multiple photgraphs of the same thing to create a single higher resolution image.

https://petapixel.com/2015/02/21/a-practical-guide-to-creating-superresolution-photos-with-photoshop/

Could the same be applied for deepfakes?

Two methods i have thought of:

At the conversion stage instead of just getting one output , you run the input multiple time's offset slightly each time vertically and horizontally(or applying a jitter )

Then you apply the stacked result to final video.

Alternatively:

You you make multiple downsampled versions of the video you want to deepfake, (trying to simplify my explanation here ) with two videos one would use column 1, 3, 5... of pixels , the second would use columns 2,4,6 ...

You run your lower resolution model on both these videos, then afterwards merge them into something higher resolution.

A similar method is also used in astrophotograpy for making HDR images.

As Reddit pushes forward with it's IPO it has become clear that our community is threatened. In response a friend of the sub has reached out to advertise a backup solution if this sub goes down. The new backup sub can be found at lemmy and we may have to transition there soon. If you already use Lemmy then please join, and if not it might be a good time to consider making an account.
