Well it seems that my account from google has been banned from playing music on any app or website all because I wanted do download everything on my liked list.

Everything I try now says content unavailable. Ugh 3 years of curating content just gone. Getting the account information only helps subscriptions, not the liked songs.

The main reason I liked YouTube's music is the supermix feature. I'm hardly ever in the mood for one genre of music, which Spotify only seems to randomize for you.

I know Spotube is available but that's essentially Spotify's front end using YouTube for the actual media.

I can't go back to anything that bombards me with ads or annoying DJs.

The Nectar project offers 'advanced data analysis' using a wide range of sensitive personal information

A controversial US spy tech firm has landed a contract with UK police to develop a surveillance network that will incorporate data about citizens’ political opinions, philosophical beliefs, health records and other sensitive personal information.

Documents obtained by i and Liberty Investigates show Palantir Technologies has partnered with police forces in the East of England to establish a “real-time data-sharing network” that includes the personal details of vulnerable victims, children and witnesses alongside suspects.

Trade union membership, sexual orientation and race are among the other types of personal information being processed.

The project has sparked alarm from campaigners who fear it will trample over Britons’ human rights and “facilitate dystopian predictive policing” and indiscriminate mass surveillance.

Numerous police forces have previously refused to confirm or deny their links with Palantir, citing risks to law enforcement and national security. However, forces in Bedfordshire and Leicestershire have recently confirmed working with the firm.

Liberty Investigates and i have learned that those projects involve processing data from more than a dozen UK police forces and will serve as a pilot for a potential national rollout of the tech giant’s data mining technology — which has reportedly been used by police forces in the US to predict future crimes.

For me, fitgirl installer does not work with wow64 (where you do not have to install 32 bit libraries). I had earlier also tried with wine-wow64 package from chaotic aur repo, and it did not used to work back then, and now arch linux has made the default wine package wow64 version. This has benefits (smaller package size, you can disable mulitlib repo, etc), but now installer does not work. It gets stuck as soon as any decompression is about to begin. And to me not much is clear. My guess is the freearc compression that fitgirl uses, its decompressor does nto work in wow64. Has anyone else tried for whom it works? Maybe I have to add a separate dll for this and create a override. Fitgirl faq does not mention it (probably since wow64 is still relatively new).

If this is not a right community for this, then sorry, I do not know of a better one. (wine team would not handle requests related to pirated installers, fitgirl or related communities in general do not do linux much, and of them, only a small fraction would be using wow64)

For testing purposes, You can grab almost any installer, I went and sorted by size (smallest first) and got it, and it does not work. (I am not going to provide link here for somewhat obvious reasons)

Comprehensive new research finds the BBC coverage of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza is systematically biased against Palestinians and fails to reach standards of impartiality.

Analysis of more than 35,000 pieces of BBC content by the Centre for Media Monitoring (CfMM) shows Israeli deaths are given 33 times more coverage per fatality, and both broadcast segments and articles included clear double standards. BBC content was found to consistently shut down allegations of genocide.

These findings directly contradict claims by authors of a September 2024 report on BBC impartiality. Led by Israel-based British lawyer and Zionist Trevor Asserson, the Asserson report’s authors alleged their study across a four-month period revealed a “deeply worrying pattern of bias” against Israel. The Asserton report was funded in part by an anonymous “Israeli businessman based in London” and carried out by Israeli lawyers as part of an opaque group called Research for Impartial Media (RIMe). It received tech support from AI company Blueskai, which describes itself as “fortified by strategic roots in Israel’s prime minister’s office”.

The CfMM research found that the BBC used emotive terms – “brutal”, “atrocities”, “slaughter”, “barbaric”, “deadly” – four times more often for Israeli victims. It applied the term “massacre” 18 times more to Israeli casualties, and used the word “murder” 220 times for Israeli deaths compared to just once for Palestinians. The words “butchered”, “butcher” and “butchering” were found to be used exclusively for Israeli victims by BBC correspondents and presenters.

Despite Gaza suffering 34 times more casualties than Israel, the BBC ran almost equal numbers of humanising victim profiles. It was also found to have attached “Hamas-run health ministry” to Palestinian casualty figures in 1,155 articles – almost every time the Palestinian death toll was referenced across BBC articles.

The BBC was found to consistently and repeatedly suppress allegations of genocide. BBC presenters shut down genocide claims in over 100 documented instances, while making zero mention of Israeli leaders’ genocidal statements, including Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s biblical Amalek reference...

When reporting on attacks on Palestinians, the study found the BBC repeatedly obscured Israeli responsibility through the use of passive language in headlines. Israeli perspectives were found to be prioritised, with BBC presenters sharing the Israeli perspective 11 times more frequently than the Palestinian perspective – 2,340 times for Israeli compared to 217 times for Palestinian...

For occasional torrent creation, qBittorrent has Tools > Torrent Creator, but suppose one has hundreds of folders from which to create individual torrents. A quick internet search yields forum posts from more than ten years ago mentioning dead projects. For example, this Reddit post from 2013 mentions qMakeTorrent, which is no longer maintained.

How are people doing this in 2025? I reckon one could write a bash or python script for this, but are there any user friendly tools out there that are built for this purpose and still actively maintained?

(JunkieMonkey69) (2025)

Image description: A solitary human figure standing atop a rounded, hill covered in grass and small vegetation, clearly defined against the dramatic red sky. The person appears as a dark silhouette backlit by bright white light emanating from in front of them, creating a stark contrast against the illuminated grass and vegetation on the hill's summit. The figure is completely darkened while the grass around their feet glows with white light, and rays of bright illumination spread outward from their form.

Full Generation Parameters:

Explore Purgatory. This is a striking, high-contrast photograph featuring a solitary figure standing on a hilltop under a dramatic, vibrant sky. The scene is set at night, with the sky transitioning from a deep, dark red at the top to a lighter red at the horizon, fading into a star-filled expanse. The figure, standing at the bottom center of the image, is dressed in dark clothing, making it difficult to discern specific details, but it appears to be a person, likely male, holding a flashlight or lantern that casts a bright, white light illuminating the immediate area around them. The light source is positioned at the bottom center, creating a stark contrast against the dark background.

The hill on which the figure stands is covered in sparse, dark vegetation, barely visible against the dark background. The silhouette of the hill is slightly raised, with the figure standing on its peak.

Summary:

  • Around 5,500 Nepali nationals live and work in Israel, and about a dozen in Iran. Despite the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, all Nepalis in these countries are reported safe.
  • Nepal’s ambassador to Israel, Dhan Prasad Pandit, confirmed that Nepalis in Israel are taking precautions such as rushing to bunkers within 90 seconds of missile sirens. Fighting mainly happens at night, and Nepalis have adapted to living under these conditions.
  • No Nepali has requested evacuation so far, so the embassy has not initiated rescue efforts but is ready to assist if needed.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal is closely monitoring the situation and has instructed ambassadors to stay in regular contact with Nepali communities, providing updated security information.
  • In Iran, 11 Nepalis are safe outside jail, while five Nepalis are currently imprisoned for traveling through another country. Rescue efforts for those jailed are on hold due to the war.
  • The Nepalese government is actively coordinating and prioritizing the safety of its citizens abroad amid the Israel-Iran conflict.

Summary:
India briefly closes Nepal-India border bridge in Darchula without prior notice

  • On Monday, Indian authorities unilaterally closed the footbridge at the Nepal-India border in Darchula for about two hours starting at 11:06 AM, cutting off a key cross-border access point.
  • The closure was done without any prior official communication or written notice to Nepali authorities.
  • The Chief District Officer of Darchula, Anil Paudel, stated that informal talks had assured the bridge would remain open, but Indian security forces closed it under pressure from local Indian populations.
  • The closure is linked to a recent murder incident. On June 7, Kamlesh Lanu was stabbed to death in Dharchula Bazar on the Indian side opposite Nepal’s Khalanga.
  • Indian locals across the bridge demanded the arrest of the murder suspects and declared a shutdown of the market until the suspects are arrested.
  • Several organizations submitted a memorandum to Indian authorities demanding the arrest of those involved. The victim’s family has filed an FIR against three suspects believed to have crossed into Nepal.
  • The incident exposed vulnerabilities in Nepal’s border administration as the closure stranded Nepali citizens in India and prevented Indian nationals from returning to Nepal.
  • Border bridges are intended to facilitate smooth cross-border movement through cooperation, but recent events have caused disruptions.

Manga in Japanese? (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 23 hours ago by [email protected] to c/piracy

So I'm learning Japanese and I'd love to have more practice material, but from what I can tell most (maybe all) of the manga available from the several sites I checked on the Megathread wiki only had translated books. Many languages, tbf, but I could not find the original Japanese anywhere. Am I just missing it or is there a particular source I should look at for untranslated books?

Also as a corollary, anyone have a good source for visual novels in Japanese?

One has a folder of original content that they'd like to share/upload across the multiple private trackers that they're a member of. In qBittorrent, there's Tools > Torrent Creator, with various fields and a "Create Torrent" button. The "Tracker URLs" field accepts multiple URLs.

When creating the new torrent file(s), does one add the announce URLs for all their private trackers and then click Create Torrent (a single torrent file for all trackers), or is it best to only include one announce URL at a time (a separate torrent for each tracker)? Thanks.

Matrix is going Freemium and WhatsApp is adding ads, which is sparking the annual "time to leave [app]" threads.

Users don't care that much about privacy, but they do care about enshittification, so XMPP not being built for it shouldn't be a problem.

Meanwhile, I've heard for years that XMPP has solved a lot of the problems that lead more popular apps to fail.

Is it really just a marketing/UX/UI problem?

If XMPP had a killer app with all the features that Signal/Whatsapp/Telegram has, would it have as many users?

If not, why does it keep getting out-adopted by new apps and protocols?

I remember there being one that worked in a terminal

My choice of client should be able to do this:

  1. Log into my account and use the recommendations
  2. Download songs listened to (manually or automatically)
  3. Be able to play my playlists and supermix (or download it)

It would also be nice if it was on phone

I would also be okay if it could just download my supermix

My pick: Metrolist fills all my needs, works for android and I can use it on PC too, I think I found what I wanted. Thanks!

Image description: A surreal landscape rendered in a monochromatic palette of grays, whites, and earth tones showing a winding dirt path that zigzags through pale, rolling dunes toward the horizon.
