Any video longer than 2 hours needs to go to the dunk tank unless it's like a live recording of a concert or something.
videos
Breadtube if it didn't suck.
Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.
Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.
There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.
A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.
I feel like most of this would still happen under communism. The drive to become famous would still exist there.
I do think people would care a bit less though, because no one would get rich off of this any more.
so-called "youtuber" creates a video about not trusting "youtubers"
great work team
Why the fuck is this 4 hours? Does infinite Patreon money not get him a fucking script editor?
Wait so do y’all not just have these types of videos on in the background at any given time
It’s honestly like my version of what was Fox News to my parents lol I don’t think anyone seriously sits down for 4 hours to watch this shit (though I could be very wrong)
im only 30 minutes in but the concept of 'plagiarism' is so undefined. is Brent Rivera even 'copying' ideas from other youtubers? like yea one can argue the 'idea' is an obvious copy but you don't 'own' an idea of say of different priced hotels or whatever.
for example. when you are writing a research paper you use citations. aren't these citations 'copying' text from another paper but worded a bit differently?
Please watch like 12 more minutes at least.
Isnt he a breadtuber (YUCK) dude who claims to be a “leftist” (siri, plug in lenin’s “left-wing” communism please) and yet consistently shits on AES?
Four fucking hours too, i could read actual theory instead of watching boring patreon monarchy slop, no thanks fam.
four hours. FOUR HOURRS
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFOUR HOURS
anyway I haven't watched any of this yet but I've seen youtubers get accused of plagiarism just because they sound kinda similar to somebody else, even though their content is all original research and opinion. You can't claim ownership of "talking fast over a hip hop beat", you know? And so much youtube content is so repetitive and derivative anyway that I'm not honestly sure if there's a line that can be rationally drawn between plagiarizing someone versus "minecraft video number two eight five six one" - the only time I would dare to slap a plagiarism claim on someone is if they're going word for word with someone else's jokes or commentary.
edit: lmao Hasan got reeeeekt
edit2: "Information itself deteriorates in the process of producing industrial quantities of content."
damn that's a good line
edit3: oh shit xqc just got got - and internethistorian too!?
last edit: So this one turned out to be way too focused on a few specific youtubers for my liking. I'll say it was probably the highest quality drama post I've ever seen, but it's still a drama post which means it's gonna age like milk and there's no reason to rewatch it.
Fun fact: That famous Oatmeal comic about Tesla blatantly plagiarizes from a biography when describing the "Edison buying pets to electrocute" incident. I have no idea if people have talked about that or if it's old hat, I just happened to read that biography a long time ago and recognized the phrasing.
And now I need to go back and listen to that other video on the AVGN plagiarism thing to see if HB stole from it
The length isnt the problem, the problem is that its like 8 videos of the same concept repeated one after another without a framing device or throughline besides "and heres this other plagiarist!"
It wouldnt be better if its was just half the length cause then its just a shorter badly paced video, it either should just have been a series of videos about each individual plagiarist, since each segment is paced individually, or it should have been one video about the broad trends of plagiarism in youtube.
A good video essay never feels too long while a bad one can never be short enough.(adapted from quote about film I read once)
Im just some fuck on the internet but my main idea for how this could have been paced better is to center the whole thing around the specific ways that they plagiarize, then use examples for each of that.
Like both Illuminaughtii and Somerton do the bisexual lighting to avoid copyright detection thing, so instead of one segment about the former then one segment about the latter, have a segment about bisexual copyright dodging, point out where each do it, then go to the next method of plagiarism.
I was going to say, Hbomb acknowledges that the Somerton section gets totally off-topic discussing his misogyny, which has nothing to do with the video's theoretical thesis. Why not just make a different video with the thesis "Fuck Somerton" and put both the Somerton plagiarism and misogyny and so on all in that video? Why not just make a video series?
just watch whatever soothes the psychic pain this is why the west will fall we can't even agree on treats
Reporting in at an hour and wondering where it gets to the point where I should care about any of this since I'm not a youtuber. Some of the 'plagiarized quotes' on the anti vaxx bit were like, technical medical or legal shit that is pretty hard to phrase differently and although it's clear this youtube channel watched a documentary and the regurgitated it which is lazy, I'm still left wondering why I should care if I don't have a youtube channel or any skin in this game.
He's complaining about her doing 'LITERAL COPYWRITE INFRINGEMENT!' cause she ripped off a Netflix documentary about Fyre Fest. Fucking good for her. Screw Netflix
Gave up. This is him being mad at someone who was mean to his lawyer friend and whatever. Feels petty
hilarious thread, also love people defending some dude who claimed the drpk should be bombed too. A+ effort yall.
this is 4 hours long what the fuck.
I've never watched one of those content mill video essays but I did always wonder what was in these two hour videos they were churning out that I constantly see in the "related videos" section...this explained a lot.
Getting red, mad, and nude online because someone criticized my favorite breadtuber
