Rural US is fucked.
All rural hospitals and nursing homes will lose a huge chunk of revenue, and they're already on shoestring budgets. They'll close.
Everyone who worked there will need to find new work, so all the doctors and nurses and pharmacists and medical technicians will probably need to sell their rural/small town homes. Housing market flooded with the houses means property values will fall, cratering tax revenue for the counties and towns.
The support staff, cleaners and cooks and such, now need to find new work too. They'll flood the labor market, causing wages to stagnate or fall. That means they have less income to spend in the local economy, which also means less sales tax
With the higher income streams from medical professionals gone and with the support staff incomes tightened, they'll have less to contribute to the local economy. Local businesses will close, which means even more job losses and more people looking for new jobs and more people move away.
All the while, as tax revenue from properties and sales and businesses and individuals fall, the local government will struggle to fund basic services. Which means pay cuts, job losses, loss of service, delayed maintenance on infrastructure, and nothing in the pocket for emergencies. Local governments will collapse, and they'd never let a good crisis go to waste, so with collapse comes shock doctrine and privatization of essential services.
At least we know how they plan on filling the job openings caused by their ethnic cleansing campaign. Picking crops will be the only job left.
